Battle of the Zit Busters: Mario Badescu vs The Jojoba Company

I’ve been suffering from breakouts for severals months now, particularly when I’m riding the crimson wave. I needed something that would curb the zits that sprout on my chin and nose. For some reason, Garnier’s Pure Active Anti-Spot Roll On doesn’t cut it anymore. I’d be rolling that pen on my skin three times a day and it still did not get the results I desired. Damn pimples just wouldn’t go down.

I needed something stronger. A whole lot stronger.

For the past few months, I’ve been using a couple of zit-busting products that have delivered the results I wanted, and they are Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion and The Jojoba Company’s Spot-On Pimple Treatment. How did they fare against each other? Which do I prefer?

Read on, my pretties.

Is Trilogy Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream Really Age-Proof?

Now that I’m in my 30s, I’m actively searching for skincare products that can slow the aging process down. Yep, I’m in search of a miracle, I know. Sunscreens are a definite must. I’ve started using eye cream during the day (previous years I’ve only used eye creams at night), and I’m more aware of the ingredients I’d need for healthy, glowing, plump-y skin.

A month ago, I had the opportunity to try out Trilogy’s Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream. Trilogy’s a brand that just amazes me. I’ve used a number of their products, and I’m really liking them. The Calming Fluid from the Sensitive Skin range is still my absolute favourite from the brand thus far.

So, how did this cleanser fare? Is it really age-proof, as the name claims?

Trilogy Age Proof Active Enzyme Cleansing Cream

Description:
Trilogy’s most luxurious cleanser to date, this silky, mousse-like formulation gently cleanses and polishes skin-dulling impurities to reveal smooth, refined skin with a bright and youthful glow.
Included in this must-have skincare essential are powerful fruit enzymes from Papaya and Pineapple Papaya and Pineapple. These active fruit enzymes active fruit enzymes gently retexturise and renew skin by polishing away the build up of impurities that dull skin complexions while reducing the appearance of wrinkles and uneven pigmentation. The addition of pure pure pplant oils pplant oils helps to nourish, soothe and leave skin perfectly prepared for maximum serum and cream absorption.

The Australian Beauty Blogger Weekend (ABBW) – It’s Going To Be Epic

The Australian Beauty Blogger Weekend (ABBW)For months now, I’ve been tweeting about how excited I am about the ABBW on Twitter (#ABBW2011). For those of you who do not know what ABBW is, especially my international readers, that’s the Australian Beauty Bloggers Weekend. It’s the brainchild of two amazing Australian beauty bloggers, Kimmi of The Plastic Diaries and Jacie of You’ve Got Nail.

It’s a huge gathering of beauty bloggers (about 80 of us) from all over Australia to Sydney on 24-25 September. Kimmi and Jacie have planned such an epic weekend for us that I’m wetting my pants with excitement.

Here are some of the events and things I’m highly looking forward to:

IMATS

IMATS Sydney 2011

  • This is the event I’m most looking forward to.
  • IMATS is the International Makeup Artist Trade Show. I’ve read about it for years, and it was mostly in done in the US. I’m so excited to be attending the one held in Sydney.
  • Besides all the brands that I’m raring to check out, I’m highly anticipating the keynote address by Napoleon Perdis and the presentations by Elessa Jade (aka Pursebuzz), Rae Morris and Donna Mee. It will be such an honour meeting these highly-talented artists and picking up any tips and tricks I can from them.
  • Brands I’m looking forward to checking out: Serge Louis Alvarez, Body FX, Ben Nye Makeup, Crown Brushes, Hakuhodo, Inglot and Make Up For Ever (see exhibitor list here)
