Jurlique Launches The Purely Age-Defying Range

Jurlique is an Australian brand that has always fascinated me. It was the first brand of natural skincare I learned of, and unfortunately, they also had one of the most unappealing packaging I’ve seen in natural skincare products till about a couple of years ago. I’m so glad they’ve decided to change their packaging to the sleeker, sexier bottles and matte tubes compared to the sterile ones they used to make.

Jurlique was founded in 1985 in South Australia. Did you know that most of the products you see at Jurlique counters and stores use ingredients sourced directly from their 153-acre farm just outside Adelaide? Oh to be able to visit that farm!

A couple of weeks ago, Jurlique launched their latest range of skincare products – the Purely Age-Defying range. I had the pleasure of attending an intimate beauty bloggers’ event held at the Jurlique store at Melbourne Central, courtesy of Jurlique and Torstar Communications.

Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Range

The Purely Age-Defying collection is a range of anti-aging skincare products that promises to help minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while providing long-lasting hydration. The products in the range are the Ultra Firm and Lift Cream, Facial Serum, Night Lotion, Eye Cream, Refining Treatment and Hand Treatment. I had a play with some of these products, and my first impressions are that they have a lovely texture, aren’t heavy and they smell really good. Typical of Jurlique products, really.

Guinot Fast Mattifying Concealer: A Stick Spot Concealer in a Tube

I’m thankfully blessed with relatively good and obedient skin. I don’t get much breakouts other than the odd ones during that time of the month. In terms of blemishes, I do have some freckles on my cheeks, but I never conceal those because they are a part of me which I don’t want to hide. Plus I think they’re cute 😛 There is an area of my face that needs quite a bit of concealing work though, and that’s around my nose.

The corners of my nose give me the most problems. Breakouts begin there, there’s an overload of sebum excretion that leads to open pores and a whole lot of redness around the area. The redness normally spreads to just under my nostrils as well. Sadly, I’m quite self-conscious of that area so I have to use a concealer on it.

Guinot Fast Mattifying Concealer

I was given the opportunity to trial Guinot’s Fast Mattifying Concealer a while ago. It claims to be a mattifying concealer, and that just screams ‘stick concealer’ to me, which I’m not a big fan of. So, did I like this? Did it do a good job on that red area around my nose?

Description:
The tinted formula not only conceals spots perfectly, it dries and directly treats imperfections improving the health of the skin. It contains:
Maximat – a blend of mattifying ingredients
Lipacid – an amino acid, which restores the acid mantle to the skin, it also regulates the cutaneous ecosystem
Glucobiolzinc – the combination of Zinc and Gluconate, that has sebo-regulating and healing properties

Bloggie Wednesdays: Blog Statistics Obsession

Last evening, I discovered yet another web stats medium. They call it Klout; it’s a social media statistics website, telling me how many people I’m “influencing”, etc. I don’t know if I need it, but heck, I signed up for it anyway. Another website to feed my statistics neurosis? Sure why not?

Three years ago, when my blog started to gain more traffic, it was an amazing feeling. After all, I must have been doing something right to have people coming in, right? I began to learn a lot more about this thing they called web stats. I signed up for services like Statcounter, Sitemeter and Woopra just to monitor the stats of my website. Google Analytics just didn’t seem enough.

Then I started following close to a hundred blogs about blogging, SEO, blog monetisation, etc. I would be reading about SEO on a daily basis. I was checking my blog traffic, keywords, locations, etc every single day. Simply put, I was a girl obsessed with blog stats.
