Garnier PureActive ExfoBrusher

Once in a while, you bump into a beauty product that is gimmicky and tries hard to put across a concept that is meant to multitask. You think awesome, I could do away with an extra step of work and eagerly buy into the concept and product. And then you find that it just tanks.

This is one of those times for me.

Garnier PureActive ExfoBrusher Description

Garnier PureActive ExfoBrusher Ingredients

When I first saw the Garner PureActive Exfobrusher, my first thoughts were that it resembled L’Oreal Perfect Clean Detoxifying Foaming Gel. Instead of having a separate scrublet that you use the cleanser with, the soft bristles are mounted on the head of the bottle. The bristles are just as soft.

Glasshouse Candles To Prettify My Mantelpiece

I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to candles. I like them smelling good AND I like them looking very good. I’m more than happy to pay a little bit more for good quality candles (by a little bit more, I mean I won’t be buying them from the $2 shops :P). The problem with cheap candles is that more often than not, they will not burn consistently, despite the number of hours you leave them burning. I detest pitting of candles; they look awful, and the wax on the sides are wasted. I know because I’ve bought my fair share of candles from the $2 store and had to throw away most of them unfinished because either the wick’s crap, or the wax just won’t burn properly. Bah.

Lesson learned. Don’t cheap out on candles.

Glasshouse Candles

This brings me to a range of gorgeous candles I discovered almost a year ago – Glasshouse. These babies aren’t cheap. They’re triple-scented candles, and are AU$39.95 a pop. But they’re worth every cent in my books. First of all, the packaging. I love the beautiful apocathery jars the candles are in, and once they’re burned through, you can just pop them into the freezer, let any remaining wax freeze, and crack them off. Give them a good wash, and you’ll be able to reuse the gorgeous jars to put your cotton puffs or swabs in!

How To Backup Your Blogs On Blogger and WordPress

How To Backup Your Blogs On Blogger and WordPress 1

Beautyholics Anonymous started 4 years ago on Blogger. It wasn’t long before I decided to migrate to WordPress. It was a steep learning curve, as I was very new to WordPress, and had no idea what went where. In the process of playing with some files, clicking on some things, doing goodness-knows-what, I accidentally deleted my entire blog.

I almost had a heart attack right then and there.

Frantic emails and messages were fired to my friend, who helped me with the installation of WordPress. I was in tears, worrying that all my hard work, my blog posts and comments had disappeared forever. I was so thankful to know that even though I accidentally deleted the public_html folder (I will explain more on this later), I did not delete the database, and it was still intact. Reinstalling of WordPress was a piece of cake, but I lost all my design files and images which I’ve worked so hard on for weeks.

It was a harsh lesson to learn, but in all of this, I have learned that it is essential that we have to protect our blog by backing up the heck out of it. Imagine all our hard work, wiped out just like that. Oh I can’t even think of it without getting chills down my spine.

I’ve had emails from readers and fellow bloggers on how I back up my blog, and have decided to do a post on it to share with all of you. This applies to every single blogger out there, whether you’re a personal blogger, mummy blogger, food blogger, fashion blogger, beauty blogger or tech blogger. Back up your work. It will save you money, time and a whole lot of heartache.
