Review: Dr LeWinns Puressence Day and Night Fluid
I first read about this moisturiser on Val‘s blog, and I admit I was intrigued. By the way, if you haven’t checked out her blog yet, do head over to Ponikuta (that’s her site). She does spot-on reviews on amazing products, many of which made me a convert.
I’ve never tried any of Dr LeWinns‘ skincare products before, let alone the Puressence range. It’s an Australian brand, and even though it’s widely available at pharmacies and departmental stores (no standalone counters for the latter though), the prices are comparable to higher end brands such as Clinique, Estee Lauder, etc.

Description:

Key ingredients: Venuceane™, Perfection Peptide P3, Pearl ExtractIngredients:
Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Thermus Thermophilus Ferment (Venuceane™), Isopropyl Myristate, Sodium PCA, Stearic Acid, Dimethicone, Hexanoyl Dipeptide-3 Norleucine Acetate (Perfection Peptide P3), Lecithin, Rhodiola Rosea (Golden Root) Root Extract, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Hydrolysed Pearl, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vit. E), Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Juice, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Juice, Fragaria Ananassa (Strawberry) Fruit Juice, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Juice, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Juice, Propylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Methyldibromo Glutaronitrile, Phenoxyethanol, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil (d-Limonene), Triethanolamine, Titanium Dioxide, Disodium EDTA, CI 42090, CI 19140.

Heck, would you take a look at the list ingredients and check out the amount of fruit juices there are in the moisturiser?! No wonder it smells so good; sort of lemony-orangey scent which lingers slightly on the skin when the moisturiser is applied. Everytime I use this, I always, ALWAYS, get a craving for lemon/orange chiffon cake or lemon tart 😛
The fluid is non-greasy, which makes it perfect for those with oily/combination skin. It’s very light but still enough to keep the skin well hydrated during the day.
I’m not sure if it’s the pearl extract doing its magic here, but my skin appears significantly brighter after a few applications with the moisturiser (with no other alterations in my skincare regime). Me likey.

Another thing I like about the moisturiser is the packaging. It comes with a pump, and as you use the moisturiser, the lever at the bottom rises, bringing the fluid with it. This minimises wastage of moisturiser. Me likey again.
Unfortunately, this does not contain SPF, but that doesn’t bother me much as I always use a separate sunscreen for the face. One thing does bother me a wee bit though, and that is the colouring in lotion. I haven’t decided if I’m all for the blue in the moisturiser or not. Hmmm. I’ll let you know once I finish the bottle.

Blue juice, anyone?
Dr LeWinns Puressence Day and Night Fluid retails at AU$49.95 and is available at leading pharmacies (Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, etc) and departmental stores. I’m definitely checking out other products by Dr Lewinns. It’s high time I recognise a gem sitting in the shelves of Priceline 😉
What I like about it: Light and non-greasy, perfect for oily skin, smells heavenly, brightens the skin.
What I do not like about it: No SPF, and it’s, err, blue.
Another Early Birthday Present
Sweet Connie sent me an early birthday present. This time, it isn’t the blog’s birthday, but mine. And nope, it’s not today (next week actually) 😉

Really appreciate the gesture, babes. We are so catching up again when I’m back at the end of the year *hugs*.
