VAMFF 2014: An Evening with Eva Longoria

VAMFF 2014: An Evening with Eva Longoria

A month ago, when I received an invitation to see Eva Longoria in person, I did a bit of a silent scream. And then I Instagrammed the invitation because like they say, if it’s not on Instagram, did it really happen? 😉

Anyway, so there I was yesterday, traipsing along Collins St in my silly high heels and stupid staticky dress that stuck to me like glue, heading up to Rialto Towers with my camera trying to be all “look at me, I’m a professional blogger with my camera” when I very almost fell flat on my face on the shiny lobby floor due to said silly heels. Ahem. Moving on.

VAMFF 2014: Runway 5 Look Recreation

This week, I’m doing a brand focus on L’Oreal to celebrate the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (formerly known as L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival). This brand focus is not sponsored content.

VAMFF 2014: Runway 5 Look Recreation

L’Oreal Paris is really amping up the winged liner look big time this year. There are plenty of winged-liner looks that are gracing the runway and I thought I’d try to recreate one of them. Now I’m no makeup expert so it’s just my interpretation of the look with the products that were used. I don’t have all of the products mentioned in the look book so I substituted with other L’Oreal products instead.

VAMFF 2014: Runway 5 Look Recreation

The look I recreated came from the one made for Runway 5 (by Cosmopolitan). As you can see, that model had one heck of a winged liner. Think Sharpie pen all over the lid and extending that to where the brow ends. The Super Liner Blockbuster really is like a Sharpie and makes drawing that much eyeliner on much, much quicker.

Spread Your Winged Lashes and Prepare To Fly with L’Oreal’s False Lash Wings Butterfly Effect Fibres Mascara

This week, I’m doing a brand focus on L’Oreal to celebrate the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (formerly known as L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival). This brand focus is not sponsored content.

L'Oreal False Lash Wings Butterfly Effect Fibers Mascara

I’ve heard a great deal about the Butterfly Mascara on YouTube-land before I even had a chance to try it out. Its name is different in the US and the UK, I believe, but it’s somewhere along the lines of Butterfly Mascara and the wand is exactly the same so yep, the False Lash Butterfly Mascara in Australia? Same thing.

It’s a bit of a mouthful, isn’t it, calling it the False Lash Butterfly Mascara? For this review, I’ll just call it the Butterfly mascara.

Right, where was I before I rambled on again? Ah yes. The Butterfly mascara was highly raved on YouTube-land and the beauty blogosphere. A number of beauty bloggers have given it their Holy Grail stamp of approval. So … how did it do for me? Does this knock my beloved Australis Voluptulash off the Holy Grail pedestal?

VAMFF 2014: Backstage for the David Jones Opening Night

For day 1 of VAMFF, I headed backstage for the David Jones Opening Night to see how the hair and makeup was done.

VAMFF Backstage Day 1 Opening Night

Opening night’s hair screams 4S – straight, shine, sleek and sophistication. That’s what L’Oreal Professional hair directors, Caterina Di Biase and Brad Ngata were going for. It’s youthful, it’s easy to wear especially come winter (hair covering the neck, sleek and straight to the front, keeping the neck warm? Who needs a scarf? Wait, forget I said that last bit) and best of all, it’s easy to recreate.
