How To Stay Cool In The Sweltering Heat

Stay indoors

Melbourne weather, you’re a tease, is what you are. You throw me in hot pan with the stinking heat. Then you tantalise me with your cool change. Just when I thought I love you for that delicious cool breeze, you pick me up and drop me in the oven again. Gah, tease!

Please excuse the rant. We’ve been going through weeks of over 35C heat and stretches of over 40C for a while now and it’s driving me crazy. Now I know, South Australia and Western Australia have it a lot worse. Seriously, I take my hat off to you SA and WA folks because I don’t know how you do it. I’m a terribly sook when it comes to the heat. It’s like my brain ceases to function normally when it’s so hot outside.

I’m the sort of person who thrives in cold weathers. It’s funny because I grew up in Malaysia, where it’s hot and humid 24/7. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you that. My favourite past time after doing my homework would be to literally lie on the marble floor. I may be reading, listening to music or even napping but it must be on the floor.

As I work from home, it’s imperative that I come up with solutions to cooling oneself mainly because I have no working air conditioning at home. Our AC had stopped working towards the end of last summer and we forgot to get it fixed until we were smacked with the 40+ degree heat. *facepalm*

These are some of the ideas I came up with. If you’re suffering from the heat too, join the club and we can do these things together. 🙂

Bloggie Wednesdays: Confessions of a Beauty Blogger

Bloggie Wednesdays: Confessions of a Beauty Blogger

Happy hump day, fellow beautyholics!

Since it’s Wednesday and I’m dragging my behind over the week hump as usual, I thought I’d write a more lighthearted Bloggie Wednesday post today compared to my usually dry, technical ones. 😛

Forgive me, oh readers, for I have sinned. My last confession was … er … never. Today, I’m sharing some of my blogging secrets and confessions with you. They’re not secrets to gaining more readers or scoring a fantastic Google page rank. They’re little secrets that I do on the blog that make it look all fancypants but in reality, it’s all just smoke and mirrors.

Be warned when reading this post for it will strip your good (I hope) impression of me and the blog.

SO WHY AM I EVEN TELLING YOU ALL THIS??

I blame the summer heat. It’s turning my brains to jelly.

Cover That Skin, All Of It, With Covergirl’s Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

I’ll admit it, when I was first sent this foundation for review ages ago, I dismissed it. I believe it was last summer when I got this and as it was so hot back then, the last thing I wanted on my skin was a thick foundation. I only tried it once and quickly removed it because at that time, I thought it was too heavy on my skin especially in the summer.

So, three seasons later and here we are again, back in summer. Throughout the year, I read plenty of positive reviews about this foundation. Plenty of beauty vloggers of YouTube-land deemed this to be a fabulous full-coverage foundation. When the weather became cooler, I had read enough for this to fully pique my interest and so I decided to properly try it out again.

Where’s my hat because I’m about to eat it now. This foundation is, as the gen-Y-ers will call it, the bomb dot com*. 😉

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

After waxing lyrical about my newfound love for cleansing balms, lovely reader Hilary sent me a 30ml sample of the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser to try out. It even came with a muslin cloth that I don’t have for the Eve Lom and Antipodes cleansing balms. What a great way to try out the Liz Earle cleanser and use the muslin cloth with the other balms, eh?
