Giveaway: Face of Australia Barbados Collection

THE GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING!

Giveaway - Face of Australia Barbados Collection

Remember when I blogged about Face of Australia’s limited edition Barbados collection? Guess what? One lucky reader will be able to win the entire set of 8 nail polishes!

*cue applause and a whole lot of whoop whoop*

All of you have to do is let me know what your favourite nail polish (from any brand) is in the comments, and why. The most creative answer wins. Too easy!

Australian readers only this time. I’d love to open this to international readers as well, but due to Australian Post restrictions, nail lacquers cannot be delivered out of the country. Boo!

The closing date of this giveaway is 12 March 2012 (Melbourne time, +10 GMT). All comments will be closed, and results tabulated. The most creative answer will be picked, and the winner will be announced on 14 March.

Feel free to spread the word to your fellow Aussie beauty lovers. I’d really appreciate it.

Good luck! ๐Ÿ˜€

Flooded With Sample Sachets!

I’m a bit of a hoarder. I can’t help it, it’s in my blood. My late paternal grandfather was a hoarder (close to what you see in documentaries), and so is my dad. When you took a peek into my beauty cabinet, let’s just say it’s just the tip of the iceberg ๐Ÿ˜›

So naturally, when it comes to sample sachets, I hoard them too. I love sample sachets. They’re great for traveling, as I can just use and chuck. I don’t go all out collecting them, but thanks to many beauty brands and magazines, I’ve come to quite a collection. I’ve been keeping, chucking, and then keeping some more for the past couple of years in a mooncake tin. Unfortunately, it’s getting a bit out of control, and it’s a hassle selecting shampoo from body wash in the heap of packets.

Bloggie Wednesdays: Monetisation Is A Dirty Word

At the Australia Beauty Bloggers’ Weekend last year, the second and final day was ended with a keynote speech by Bahar Etminan. She spoke about breaking into the beauty business with blogging, ways of monetising one’s blog, how to run it like a business, and more. The main topic was about blog monetisation.

Bahar Etminan's Keynote Speech at the ABBW

Her speech infuriated a number of bloggers who didn’t think that blogging was all about the money, but about the passion for blogging, and that not everyone was ready to quit their jobs to be fulltime bloggers. They were not wrong. Personally, I didn’t care for her speech much, not because the content wasn’t good, but the overall tone wasn’t really my cup of tea. But she did make a very valid point. If we put so much time, effort and money into our blogs, shouldn’t we get something out of it? And if that “something” is money, would you say no to it?
