Kiehl’s Beauty Blogger Event (And Some Good News!)

Note: Picture-heavy post

Kiehl's Beauty Blogger Event 6

Kiehl’s. Possibly the store with the best service I’ve ever had the pleasure of encountering. The staff are always friendly and eager to help, knowledgeable in giving you the skin consultations and recommending suitable products for your skin type. Never pushy in sales. Best of all, ample samples for you to bring home and try before buying.

I had the pleasure of attending the Kiehl’s Beauty Blogger Event at MYER Melbourne CBD last evening. Yes, even the cold and rain couldn’t stop me. Dedication, yo! 😀

Serious About Blogging? Then Try An Editorial Calendar

Calendar

“He who fails to plan, plans to fail”

You’re serious about blogging but sometimes find that you have run out juice and ideas of what to blog about, and many a time you find that you’re simply pulling just about any topic out of your blogging hat, hence coming up with filler posts that you’re not happy with. Or you end up not blogging at all.

The key to a good blog is consistency. Consistent quality content. To achieve that, you need to do some simple planning. I admit that in the past, blogging consistency was not my strong point. There were times when I was so lacking in inspiration and ideas, I thought of shutting the blog down. It changed when I started using an editorial calendar. It kept me organised, and took away those blogger’s block blues.

What is an editorial calendar?

Well, it’s basically a calendar where you plan out your posts throughout the month. When you have a spare hour or so, take out your calendar and plan out what you want to write about for the month. All you have to decide at that point is the subject you want to write about. It could be a product review, tutorials, tips and tricks, etc.

Once you plan out your blog topics, organise them in your editorial calendar on when you want to publish them.

Chanel Hydramax + Active Nutrition Lip Care: An Overpriced Lipbalm?

Okay, I admit it. This was a spur-of-the-moment purchase when I bought Chanel’s Coco Rouge Shine in Misia. I’ve never used any form of skincare from Chanel, so this is definitely a first. The makeup artist applied this on my lips prior to the Coco Rouge Shine, and since it felt pretty good on my lips, I decided to pick it up as well.

Too much for a lipbalm? Read on.

Chanel Hydramax Active Nutrition Lip Care

Description:
Upon application, and at any time of the day, this exquisitely soft lip balm soothes dry and damaged lips. At the heart of its formula is the exclusive active ingredient, Ceratonia PFA (PolyFractioning of Active ingredients. A process specific to CHANEL that allows for the creation of ultra-pure cosmetic ingredients), which boosts the dynamics of skin hydration at the very heart of cells to maintain an optimal level of moisture. Essential fatty acids in the formula provide immediate nourishing action. These are complemented by a cottonseed oil extract, with long-lasting action to repair the lips. Softer, smoothed and nourished, the lips look perfectly plumped, with a satiny finish – and utterly desirable.

The balm on its own is actually pretty hard. You really have to rub into it before the smoother bits emerge. Instead of using my fingers, I used a lipbrush to apply this. What I do is swipe the lipbrush pretty vigorously on the balm before the surface breaks and you get the smooth balm below. The balm applies very smoothly on the lips.
