I saw this mascara for sale at Priceline a few months ago but it never really took my fancy until I saw Lisa Eldridge using it in one of her videos. I figured hey, if she says it’s good, it must be so, right?
Description:
Max Factor Xperience Mascara has a lightweight volumising formula that works in tandem with the volumising iFX brush to generate high-impact volume and leaves lashes lifted and soft. The volumising iFX brush ensures precision applications the leaves lashes smooth from root to tip, it also detangles and separates lashes as mascara is applied. The mousse effect formula contains carnauba wax for lightweight volume. The micro channels in between each soft flexible bristle hold more of the volumising formula, ensuring it is delivered to lashes. Available in: Black and Black Brown.
WRONG.
Sorry Lisa, you’re my number 1 makeup guru, and I love you, but in this case, I’m afraid I cannot agree with you. I very rarely condemn any beauty product I use, but I’ll give this an exception. This has got to be the worst mascara I’ve ever used.
First off, the smell. When I uncapped the mascara, an awful stench of chemicals greeted my nose. I don’t really mind subtle chemical-y scents, but this one is bad. It makes me want to hurl everytime I use the mascara.
Me going all cross-eyed for the camera
Next, the texture. For some reason, Max Factor mascaras have a pretty dry formula. I’ve tried a few Max Factor mascaras, and they always seemed as though they’ve dried up on the inside. It did not volumise my lashes despite how hard I tried. It was clumpy, and all round ugh.
I certainly regretted purchasing this, and I’m afraid it’s going into the trash. Mascaras aren’t something I’d give away due to hygiene purposes, so yep, I’m chucking this one.
Max Factor Xperience Volumising Mascara retails at AU$24.95 and is available at national pharmacies.
What I like about it: I quite rarely say this, but absolutely NOTHING.
What I do not like about it: Dry formula, and it stinks. Literally and figuratively.
