Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Body Cream

Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Body Cream

Description:

Packed with deeply-hydrating plant oils and specially created to enhance your skin’s natural radiance, this ultra-rich cream is our most intensive body moisturiser. A rich blend of Evening Primrose, Jojoba and certified organic Rosehip oils deeply moisturise and nourish the skin while Sunflower oil and Manuka Honey soften and protect. Licorice and Mica – a light-reflecting mineral – leaves shimmering, radiant skin you’ll love.

Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Body Cream Ingredients

Texture: Thick, but not ick-greasy. It’s not too rich that you cannot wear this in summer. Still, I would recommend this to those with dry skin (I have particularly dry, unfortunately scaly legs), if you would like to use it in summer. For those with oily/normal skin, better to stick to lotions, yes?

Scent: Lavender. Not overpowering, but subtle lavender, which I completely adore. That’s already a win for me.

Now I’m not normally a fan of mica in skincare products, whether it’s for the face or body. I’m a firm believer that mica should be in makeup and makeup alone. Often with many bodycare products, I find that the amount of mica in them is enough to make one look like a disco ball. It’s for the shimmery effect, so that the skin will glow when sun-kissed. Works for most people, just not for me.

That’s why I wasn’t sure about this body cream, because I didn’t know that there was going to be mica in it. Still, the scent was enticing enough for me to want to give it a go. When I applied it on my arms and legs, I thought I was given a dud product because my skin didn’t have those light-reflecting minerals that I expected. Hmm, curiouser and curiouser.

When I was out in the sun, my skin glowed. Minute particles of mica shimmered so beautifully on my skin. I was oddly mesmerised. When I had it on daily for the first week, I kept admiring my glowy, shimmery-but-not-a-disco-ball arms.

Idiot 😛

Since I prefer not to have mica on me 24/7, I only apply this during the day, which I can easily wash off. I can already see me using this heavily for summer when I don’t have to wear those bloomin’ jeans no more.

Trilogy Ultra Hydrating Body Cream retails at AU$26 for 150ml and is available at leading pharmacies and Myer.

What I like about it: Subtle lavender scent, contains enough mica to give me glowy skin but not look like a disco ball. Keeps skin hydrated for hours.

What I do not like about it: Nothing

This product was sent to me for consideration.

Is Blogging About Beauty Superficial?

Is Blogging About Beauty Superficial
What. The. Eff.

I saw this tweet from a fellow beauty blogger the other day:

“I don’t want ppl to think I’m superficial”. “You run a MAKEUP blog”. I hate when my friends are right XD

To say I was disturbed is putting it mildly. I was furious! Angry at people who think that just because you run a makeup blog (beauty blogs to be more precise – makeup, hair, body, fashion, etc), you’re superficial. What a load of crock!

Does blogging about beauty deem you superficial? Shallow? The beauty industry is booming despite the GFC, bringing in millions of dollars, boosting the economy. We just enjoy using and writing about the things that happen to support the beauty industry. It’s a passion. And if it happens to also make us look good, so be it. Why is that superficial?

What about men and women who blog about the latest gadgets, how they love this and that, reviewing, reporting on them? Folks who spent thousands of dollars on topnotch electronic equipment just because they enjoy them. And then they happen to write about it for the world to read. Are they superficial too?

What’s that again? Double standards? PFFTT.

It bugs me, it really does. Someone’s passion subjected to ridicule just because the rest do not understand what it’s all about. It drives me up the wall.

What do you think? Is blogging about beauty, makeup, etc superficial? What would you say if your friends called you superficial for running a beauty blog?

Personally, I’d tell them to piss off. That’s just me.

L’Oreal Perfect Clean Detoxifying Foaming Gel

Loreal Perfect Clean Range

Recently, L’Oreal launched the Perfect Clean range, comprising the Foaming Gel Wash for normal/combination skin, Foaming Cream Wash for dry/sensitive skin and Foaming Gentle Scrub. I found the shape so cute, I just had to give it a go. And since I have combination skin, I opted for the blue bottle.

Loreal Perfect Clean Foaming Gel and Clean Pod

Description:

Perfect Clean changes the face of cleansing with the Scrubletâ„¢, a soft & flexible cleansing brush. Perfect Clean gently removes dirt, oil & make-up for a deep pore cleansing experience. Oil free, this formula is specifically adapted for normal & combination skin. Gently cleansed, your skin is left soft and smooth.

Loreal Perfect Clean Foaming Gel and Clean Pod Ingredients

I read somewhere that some ladies likened the cleanser and cleansing brush to a manual Clarisonic. Now I’ve only used the Clarisonic once, 2 years ago, so I cannot comment on that.

The hole in the middle of the bottle is for you to attach and detach the Scrublet. The rubbery buff gave me the giggles; it has very soft bristles that just made me wanna massage my face with it over and over. Yes I’m weird that way.

As a standalone cleanser without using the Scrublet, it’s pretty much a standard gel cleanser. It doesn’t give me the squeaky clean feeling, removes dirt and makeup well, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight and dry. With the rubbery thingy, it cleanses the skin even better.

I do not use the Scrublet during the day, only at night to remove all the impurities gathered on my skin. Even though the bristles are soft, I didn’t want to risk giving myself extra fine lines with the excessive exfoliating.

Loreal Perfect Clean Foaming Gel

One small snag to the gel cleanser though – I don’t really care for the scent. I had a tough time trying to decipher the fragrance and how I would describe it. Initially I thought it smelled rather clinical. After a while, I realised that it just smelled like men’s cologne. Or men’s body wash. I don’t really know how to describe. Next time you’re at a drugstore, do give it a whiff and see if you know what I mean.

L’Oreal Perfect Clean cleansers retail at AU$12.99 for 150ml and is available at all leading pharmacies and supermarkets.

What I like about it: The rubbery thingy amuses me immensely (I don’t know why), it cleanses the skin well without drying it.

What I do not like about it: Don’t really like the scent.
