FOTD – Happy Cup Day

Happy Cup Day to my Australian readers!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term, on the first Tuesday in November every year, Australians everywhere stop for one of the world’s most famous horse races – the Melbourne Cup. It’s a day when the nation stops whatever it’s doing to listen to the race call, or watch the race on TV. Even those who don’t usually bet, try their luck with a small wager or entry into a ‘sweep’ – a lottery in which each ticket-holder is matched with a randomly drawn horse.

And yep, it’s a public holiday 😛

Think men in their fanciest suits. Think women in the most gorgeous dresses and fancy (and sometimes outrageous) hats. Think a slightly toned down Ascot races. Even though I’m not at the races nor betting on any horses, I’m at home watching ’em.

To commemorate my first Cup day here, I thought I’d do a FOTD just for the occasion. I don’t have any fancy hats or feathers, so I’ll stick with a lil’ flower pin.

I’m really digging the red lips. I don’t normally wear something so red, but methinks I’m going to get myself a bright red lippie. They’re so much fun!

The L’oreal Star Secrets Kit is available at Guardian or Watsons drugstores in Malaysia for just under RM60.

The New Beautyholics Anonymous on WordPress

After two solid days on my computer (and a heck of a backache to follow suit), I’ve finally come up with a theme that I actually liked. No offence to the person who did the Gossip City theme; it was cute and well done, but the trouble with free themes is that I-don’t-know-how-many-other people probably have the same theme either.

I present to you, the new Beautyholics Anonymous on WordPress.

The New Beautyholics Anonymous on WordPress

I modified one of the free themes from Daily Blog Tips. I wanted something with cleaner lines, but still looked girly. So I redesigned the header, gave it a pink theme, added a few items here and there and cleaned up the sidebar. I’m pretty pleased with the result 🙂

If it isn’t too much of a hassle,
1. If you’ve subscribed to my feed either via email, or on your favourite RSS reader (thank you *mwah mwah*!), could you please resubscribe to the same feed? Apparently when I moved over to WordPress, some of y’all weren’t getting any updates, and I was told that this worked. Much obliged *grin*
2. Break the website! A designer’s the worst tester of a product he/she made. If you encounter any problems with any part of the site at all, please let me know.

Thanks!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to find the husband to give me a good thumpin’ on the back.

Note: At the end of the day, I really wouldn’t have gotten the setup and all done so quickly if it wasn’t for Edrei. Mate, you are such a star. I owe you one 😉

Van Cleef & Arpels’ Féerie

If you are a fan of Van Cleef & Arpels’ fragrances, you might want to check out their latest perfume, Féerie.

Van Cleef & Arpels' Feerie Logo

And oh my goodness, check out the design of the bottle! Isn’t it simply gorgeous?

Van Cleef & Arpels' Feerie

Description:

At the heart of Van Cleef & Arpels fine jewelry, the good fairy symbolizes the poetry of a luxury universe unlike any other. Now, with total enchantment, she enters the world of exceptional fragrance with a new eau de parfum: Féerie. A floral woody scent, Féerie captures her free and graceful femininity; for although she is fleeting, the fairy leaves behind a sparkling fragrance of velvet caresses and enchanting dreams. Metamorphosed into a splendid jewel of astral blue, the richly faceted Féerie bottle captures the night, reflecting its myriad reflections to infinity. Growing from its magnificent moon flower cabochon is a tall, slender branch providing a perch for the graceful, impish fairy in a moment of contemplation. She listens to the flowers grow while the scents that rise in the silence bring colors to the night.

Family: Floral Woody

Top Notes: In this paradise of exquisite scents, violet tantalizes with the delicate freshness of its green leaves. Buds of blackcurrant, rounded with sparkling Italian mandarin, whirl with whimsy around a cheerful note of refined poesy.

Heart Notes: Bulgarian Rose and rose essence bring warmth and festive radiance to Egyptian Jasmine, which exhales a soft, sensual sophistication.

Base Notes: Florentine Iris butter shines at the base long after the night has extinguished the stars. Its vibrant elegance blends with the majestic scent of Haitian vetiver, the most precious of woods.

I’ve only tried out one of their fragrances, Murmure, which was only in a sample vial. I haven’t seen this on sale here in Australia yet, but I so want to get one, just for the design of the bottle, which I thought was absolutely beautiful.

The eau de parfum is 100ml/USD150; 50ml/USD110, and is available exclusively at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and Van Cleef & Arpels boutiques.

Shop In Tine’s Stash

Paris was right. What with the massive downturn in economy, weakening of the AUD, recession and all, my shopping for clothes, bags and makeup have taken a serious hit. I haven’t shopped in two months. Of course, there was that huge splurge I did in the US, but really, who’s keeping score? 😛

Taking part in her lil’ game, let’s now shop in Tine’s stash!

Red Kate Hill Bag

Instead of going through my makeup, I thought I’d go through my collection of bags instead. Now I’m a big fan of bags. To be exact, cheap bags. The most I’ve ever spent on bags were the Coach bags I bought in the US during my honeymoon. Next would be a beautiful Jasper Conran by Debenhams leather bag, which was a replica of the Hermes Birkin, which I bought for 60 pounds. Other than that, my bags rarely ever cost over $100 each.

Rummaging through my collection of bags here (I have double of the collection which I left in Malaysia. That’s right, ladies. I’m a huge bag junkie), I found a favourite of mine which I haven’t used in a while, which I bought over 5 months ago.

Bag Section In Wardrobe

It’s a cute red bag which I bought from Kate Hill. I love red bags; I have over ten bags which are red in colour. This bright bag never fails to cheer me up, and goes so well with most of my clothes. When I’m bored, I’d even braid the fringe!

Thanks to this game Paris brought up, I discovered an old favourite, and have started using it again this weekend. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, so I don’t expect anyone to lust over it 😉

There ya go. Your turn now. Let me shop in your stash!
