Review: The Body Shop Satsuma Puree Body Lotion

It was a dear friend who introduced this to me. She also happened to be a colleague of mine, and I remembered once when I caught a whiff of the lovely citrus fragrance at the office, and I was wondering “Hmmm … who’s eating oranges?” It was then that I realised she was using The Body Shop’s Satsuma Puree Body Lotion.

The Body Shop Satsuma Puree Body Lotion

Description:

Cooling and refreshing, this lightweight non-greasy gel, with fabulously fruity and juicy natural ingredients, absorbs easily to instantly hydrate and moisturise. Suitable for normal skin types.

Here’s a short background on the satsuma.

The satsuma is often known as a seedless mandarin. It is commonly called mikan in Japan, satsuma in the UK and mandarin or tangerine in Canada and the United States. Its fruit is sweet and usually seedless, about the size of other mandarin oranges (Citrus reticulata), smaller than an orange.

I love The Body Shop’s satsuma range. The body wash is my favourite :p I find the normal body lotion’s scent a tad strong though, but the puree body lotion’s yummy. The lotion’s very light compared to the body butter, and is non-greasy, which is a huge plus point. I like using this at the office, on my hands, arms and legs, which get dry in the harsh air-conditioned environment.

The bottle comes with a pump, which is good. I find it more convenient and hygienic compared to their open-jar body butter range.

The best thing about the satsuma puree body lotion? Why, the scent, of course! I love the orangey fragrance; it makes me crave for an orange every time I apply the lotion :p

The Body Shop is currently having sales on their puree body lotion range. Each body lotion is currently sold at RM36 per bottle (250ml), although I’m not sure how long the sale period will last (I reckon till the end of the month). The puree body lotion normally retails at RM42.

The Puree Body Lotion range also comes in Papaya, Pink Grapefruit and Strawberry.

What I like about it: Simply adore the scent, plus it’s light and non-greasy.

What I did not like about it: On the contrary, the scent can be a tad overwhelming for some, so do check with those near you if they are all right with it.

WidgetBucks Ads Removed

We interrupt our program with some breaking (and beauty-unrelated) news.

After reading Problogger Darren Rowse’s article on Widgetbucks to stop monetising non North-American traffic, I’ve decided to remove the Widgetbucks widget. Not going to waste precious sidebar space if it isn’t going to earn me anything.

Oh, and geotargeting ads? What an idiotic idea. I’d sooner move on to something else which isn’t that discriminating. I’m hardly getting anything out of it anyway.

So out you go.

We now return to our regularly scheduled program.

Review: Clinelle Moisture Glow

Again, my apologies for the lack of posts for the past week or so, as I’ve been caught up with wedding preparations and all. But now I’m back with more reviews, and to continue with my review on the Clinelle range, would be Clinelle’s Moisture Glow moisturiser.

Clinelle Moisture Glow

Description:

  • Will not clog pores (Non-comedogenic).
  • Aloe Vera, Betaglucan, and extracts of Marigold Flower, Licorice, Oat Kernel, Horse Chestnut Extract, Ruscus Aculeatus & Plankton soothe, hydrate and calm sensitized skin.
  • Powerful anti-oxidants protection of Vitamin C, E, B5, and extracts of Centella Asiatica, Grape Seed, Green Tea & Crataegus Oxyacantha for more youthful looking skin.
  • Natural essential oils of Lavender and Lime leave skin more supple.
  • Carrot Seed Oil, Wheat Germ Extract, Rice Bran Oil and Rice Germ Oil help protects skin against moisture loss for more supple skin.

I bought Clinelle’s travel set, and thought to try the moisturiser (by the way, travel sets are a great way to try out new skincare products, as they cost about a fraction of the original price, and if you don’t like it, well, at least you don’t have a lot more to go before getting another one).

I found it to be pretty lightweight and non-greasy, which, again was a plus in my book. It did not clog my pores, and my skin felt breathable. I also like that it’s fragrance-free.

Still, being a lightweight moisturiser, I felt that even though I have combination skin, the moisturiser just wasn’t rich enough for me. After a few days of using it, the skin around my mouth got really dry, and it started to peel. I had to pile on a lot more of the moisturiser than usual at night around those areas. Other than that, I’d say it’s quite a good buy for a moisturiser.

Would I buy this again? Hmm … I might. I’m not about to replace my holy grail of moisturisers with this one, that’s for sure. I’ll use this for traveling though, but only within tropical countries. I just don’t think this moisturiser would not last for more than an hour on my face in cold and dry countries.

The Moisture Glow moisturiser retails at RM35.80, and the travel set (which I LOVE) is sold at RM11.90 (oh so cheap for a facial cleanser, toner, moisturiser and eye cream!) at Watsons or Guardian.

What I like about it: It’s lightweight, non-greasy, doesn’t clog my pores and fragrance-free. Oh, and it’s cheap 😉

What I did not like about it: It wasn’t rich enough for the dry areas of my face.
