Back From A Week-Long Break

Dear ladies,

My apologies for the absence last week. I was in KL for my Australian visa application at the Australian High Commision, and also to attend to some wedding details.

BUT, being the shopaholic that I am, I bought something which I’m itching to show, all from my shopping at The Gardens, Mid Valley. Bloody expensive place to shop, I’d say, but still, I managed to snag something I’ve been wanting for ages.

Stay tuned!

Love,
Tine

Poll: Liquid or Pencil Eyeliner?

It’s been a while since we’ve done a poll, so I’m going to kickstart this week with a question for you lovely ladies out there – What method of eye-lining do you prefer? Liquid or pencil?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I don’t know about you, but I am practically HOPELESS when it comes to using a liquid eyeliner. I know it all boils down to practice, but as much as I’ve tried, I just can’t seem to draw a smooth line on my eyes with the liquid eyeliner. Really.

I tried drawing the line in one go (no hesitation of the hand). My eyes end up looking like a bad page of colouring where children colour out of the line. I tried the “connecting-the-dots” method. The line ended up really jagged; I looked like I had some kind of weird zig zag lines on my lids. Sigh. I gave up. For me, it has to be the pencil eyeliner. I blend the colours better with it and, for some reason, my eyes are more defined when I use the pencil.

Anyhoos, what’s your take? Which do you prefer?

PS: By the way, if you know a fool-proof way of applying liquid eyeliner, help me out, pretty please? 🙂

Review: Clinelle Deep Cleansing Gel

Next in my series of Clinelle reviews is a gem I found in facial cleansers. I can’t believe I didn’t try it out sooner. I’m talking about Clinelle’s Deep Cleansing Gel.
When I tried out Clinelle’s Caring Milk Cleanser, I thought it was somewhat lacking as I didn’t feel it cleansed my skin all that well. Of course, a lot of it had to do with the fact that it was not even right for my skin type in the first place (it was meant more for dry skin, whereas mine’s a combination of an oily T-zone and dry cheeks). I’ve heard of the Deep Cleansing Gel for quite some time now, and thought it was a good time to try it out. And I certainly wasn’t disappointed.

Clinelle Deep Cleansing Gel

Description:

  • Enriched with Lavender, Aloe Vera, Marigold Flower Extract and Pro-Vitamin B5.
  • Suitable for all skin types, especially oily, acne-prone & combination skin
  • Will not clog pores (Non-comedogenic).
  • Aloe vera and extracts of Horse Chestnut, Marigold Flower, Ruscus Aculeatus, Licorice, Willow Bark promote oxygen flow and soothe the skin.
  • Powerful antioxidant protection of Vitamin B5 for more youthful looking skin.
  • Soothes and improves skin elasticity (natural essential oils of Lavender and Ylang Ylang leave skin more supple)
  • Softer and smoother skin (Vitamin B5, Centella Asiatica Extract and Sodium Lauroyl Oat Amino Acids restore and nourish the skin condition)
  • Skin restoration (Wild Thyme Extract aids in restoring acne-prone skin condition)

This cleanser worked really well on my skin. The menthol in the gel cools the skin after wash (a plus point for me), and my skin doesn’t feel tight nor dry (another plus point; I hate cleansers that make my skin feel as though it’s being washed with liquid detergent. Y’know the squeaky clean feeling?).

The gel cleansed my daily makeup off well, when the milk cleanser did not. I like it that it is fragrance-free too. It’s mild for daily use, and I’m definitely repurchasing this once my current tube’s finished.

Clinelle’s Deep Cleansing Gel retails at RM26.80 at Guardian or Watsons (watch out for either drugstore’s 15% discount periods :p)

What I like about it: Non-drying, removes daily makeup well, fragrance-free

What I did not like about it: Nothing really.

Review: Clinelle Caring Milk Cleanser

I’ve heard a lot about Clinelle products, but never did try ’em out. Curiosity got the better of me, and about a month ago, I bought myself a few skincare products from Clinelle to try out, and I have to say, I am impressed.

I’ll be doing a series of reviews on Clinelle products in the next few posts, but for today, my review will be on Clinelle’s Caring Milk Cleanser.

Clinelle Caring Milk Cleanser

Description:

A gentle, soap-free milk cleanser formulated with a beneficial blend of botanical extracts to gently cleanse impurities without being harsh on the skin. Nurtures and balances the skin, particularly those with dehydrated and sensitive skin. This cleanser is enriched with Aloe Vera, Lavender and extracts of Chamomile, Licorice and Balm Mint.

  • Non-comedogenic formulation will not clog pores.
  • Ideal for inflamed-prone skin.
  • Antioxidants protection.
  • Soothes the skin after wash.
  • Aids in restoring sensitised skin condition.
  • No artificial colouring
  • No lanolin
  • No mineral oil
  • 100% natural essential oil

For a milk cleanser, I think this one does quite a good job. It did not cause any dryness to my skin after use, which was great. It’s a mild enough a cleanser which worked all right on my skin.

This milk cleanser would work a lot better for those with dry skin though (it IS for dry/sensitive skin; serves me right for not reading the label before I bought the cleanser). Since I have combination skin, with an oily T-zone, I didn’t feel as though it cleansed my skin that well. I had to use quite a lot of the cleanser in a wash.

All in all, this cleansing milk worked average on my skin. It’s not something I’d buy again though, mainly because it just was not right for my skin type. I believe it will work its best on those with dry skin.

Clinelle’s Caring Milk Cleanser retails at RM26.80 at Watsons or Guardian.

What I like about it: It’s mild (great for sensitive skin), soap-free, and not drying to the skin. Oh, and it’s cheap for a milk cleanser :p

What I did not like about it: Didn’t work as well as I’d like it, but that’s because it just wasn’t right for my skin type.
