Review: Maybelline White Stay Mousse Foundation

When Maybelline introduced their Mousse Foundation range, I wasn’t all that interested in it. At that point in time, I wasn’t wearing foundation daily, so I never thought to try it out. It was only when they came out with their White Stay version, that I thought I’d give it a go.

Maybelline White Stay Mousse Foundation

Description:

One Step For All makeup! Revolutionary whipped and whitening formula provides an air-soft, perfect matte finish coverage, with a weightless feel.

Breakthrough technology with flexible, silicone polymers help prevent caking, and settling into creases and lines in the skin. Colour pigments give superior coverage that blends effortlessly, imparting a soft, natural-looking, even-toned result. SPF24PA++ keep your skin perfect under sun. Long-wearing formula will not clog pores. With herbal moisturizing factor and Vitamin C which suitable to use in autumn and winter.

The mousse foundation comes in a rather heavy glass jar, which is different from the foundations I’ve used.

Being a now-regular liquid foundation user, I found the mousse a refreshing change. It gave my face a nicely matte coverage, and it didn’t feel heavy on my skin. The White Stay version apparently contains skin-whitening properties, but I did not see the effect. It could be that I don’t use it enough (yeah, you can see that it was hardly touched) for the whitening to actually take place. Oh well, it doesn’t bother me that my skin isn’t lightened by the mousse. It also contains SPF24PA++, which is a good feature. I like creams and stuff which contain sun protection. It’ll help those who do not use sunscreen. For me, I always use sunscreen and foundation separately.

One thing I did not like about the mousse is that the foundation tends to cake around the oily areas of my face, namely the T-zone. It’s quite obvious around my nose, especially when sweat builds up when I’m outdoors. It also stains the my glasses with foundation build up, especially on the bridge of my nose. I’d recommend applying a very thin layer around the T-zone, and your usual amount on the cheeks and other areas. The mousse dries up instantly when applied.

This mousse foundation is significantly cheaper than my MAC. To limit the use of my MAC foundation only to work and dinners, I wear the Maybelline mousse foundation when I go out shopping during the weekends. Something for me to experiment with, so to speak. Hence the lack of use.

The White Stay foundation (a.k.a Dream White, in Asian Maybelline websites) is apparently only available in Asian countries (its Dream Matte counterpart’s more widely sold). But do correct me if I’m wrong, ya?

The Maybelline White Stay Mousse Foundation retails at RM46.90 at Guardian or Watsons.

What I like about it: Provides a matte coverage, contains SPF, cheap.

What I did not like about it: Tends to cake up around the oily T-zone, heavy jar.

StrawberryNET August Specials

StrawberryNET‘s August Specials are out!

I just bought Kanebo’s Inner Balance Moisture Polish Essence for RM137, and Stila’s Rouge Pot Cheek Mousse for RM35 today. Received an email from them that they’ve just been dispatched. Woohoo, should get ’em in about 4 days. Can’t wait!

I’m very interested in the Kanebo essence I bought. Anyways, I’ll review both of them once I try ’em on.

Beauty Smile Trainer

Voila! Another, er, ‘fabulous’ Japanese invention. So ladies, if you think you can’t smile properly, see what the good people of the land of the rising sun has come up with. A solution for better smiles!

Description:

The Beauty Smile Trainer is basically a mouthpiece, but it’s designed specifically to make your smile wider and more amicable than the one you already have. It’s even endorsed by a cosmetic dentist (the woman on the top left.) In addition to improving your smile, the product promises to reduce facial sagging, making your countenance more firm and petite.

I’ve seen nosebridge clips at Sasa to supposely help “lift” a flat nose, but this really takes the odd biscuit. I’m definitely asking my friend who’s in Japan right now to check it out for me. And if it’s cheap, I’ll get her to bring it back, and maybe *ahem* try it out for you. Tee hee hee :p

Poll: Skincare Product You Can Do Without

I’m going to start a new feature on Beautyholics Anonymous – POLLS! I love polls, don’t you? Little quizzes for you to be involved in. Tee hee hee.

Anyways, I’d love to get to know you ladies better, and to kick things off, my first poll would be – Skincare Product To Do Without. Now, me, I feel really incomplete without my 3-step skincare (cleanse, tone and moisturise). My face would feel absolutely naked!

So what’s your story? Is there anything else you’d add to your skincare regime?
