Mineral Makeup Mania

I’m so in love with mineral makeup right now. I bought Everyday Minerals a month ago, and am absolutely hooked. I’ll do a review on what I used very soon.

Just an hour ago, I placed an order for a sample kit from Silk Naturals. It should arrive in 3 weeks, I think. Oh, and also makeup brushes from Lumiere.

Damn you, online shopping!!

Review: Laura Mercier Foundation Primer (Oil-Free)

Since my aunt lives in the US, I thought I’d ask her to get this for me as she was coming back to Malaysia for my wedding. I was going to reimburse the money to her when she came back (I promise!) but she just told me to keep it. Aww, bless my auntie :p

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

Description:

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Oil-Free is a lightweight, creamy gel – used prior to foundation – that acts as an invisible barrier between skin and makeup.
Specifically created for oily, sensitive and acne-prone skin types; oil-free
Contains high water content and addresses surface dehydration around active blemishes
Oil controlling ingredients ensure long-wear and flawless application
Vitamins A, C, & E act as antioxidants & protect the skin from harmful, aging effects of the environment
Cooling Foundation Primer in the refrigerator is refreshing for the skin & reduces puffiness

Remember when I wrote about using mineral makeup for the first time, and it was giving me bad shines on my face? It was my mistake for not using a primer before putting the makeup on. I totally forgot I had this in my makeup bag!

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer Sample

Before using Laura Mercier’s primer, I used MAC’s Strobe Cream. I didn’t like the Strobe Cream because it was slightly greasy, and felt heavy on my face after application. But this baby, this baby is awesome.

Once I popped this on, it was bye bye to the shiny face. As it was oil-free and very light, it mattified my skin after application. Just a tiny, half-a-pea-sized dollop on my forehead, nose, both cheeks and chin, rub it in, and I was ready for my foundation. It kept my makeup on for hours. I’m so in love with this primer.

Laura Mercier’s Oil-Free Foundation Primer costs USD30 in the US. I’m not sure as to how much it costs in Malaysia and Australia though (I’ll check out the Australian price here and update soon. To my Malaysian readers, if you do know how much this costs, please let me know. Thanks). You can get it at Laura Mercier counters at the Robinsons at the Gardens Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur, or at Myer, Melbourne (Chadstone or CBD). This is also available online.

What I like about it: My makeup lasts longer with this; does not feel heavy nor greasy after application.

What I did not like about it: Slightly on the expensive side, but it was worth the money.

Too Faced Cosmetics

When I dropped by Myer (Chadstone) yesterday, I stumbled upon Too Faced cosmetics at the Kit Cosmetics counter.

Too Faced Logo

At a glance, it reminded me of Benefit and Malaysia’s Beautilicious. Think vintage pin-up girls and lots of baby pink and black. Even the website is girly. As a huge fan of pink and black, I was immediately captivated.

Decade of Glamour

Hopeless Romantic

Quick Chronicles

Brow Envy Kit

Status Gloss

I just love how fun makeup packaging is nowadays. I mean, yeah, I love the classy pieces like YSL and Dior, but I’d like me some fun makeup to carry with me too. I can see why more and more young girls are getting into makeup; who can resist such cute makeup?

I haven’t had a chance to try it out, but I’ll definitely be heading to Myer again over the weekend to check it out properly. Packaging can only go so far, right?

Too Faced is available at the Kit Cosmetics counters or boutique at Chapel St (South Yarra), Lonsdale Street (CBD) and Myer, Chadstone.

Launch of Collette Dinnigan for Target at Chadstone

Next in line in Designers for Target Australia is the Collette Dinnigan for Target collection.

Collette Dinnigan Wild Hearts Collection

It was launched today in all Target stores in Australia. After a gentle reminder from Geekchic on the night before, I started out for Chadstone the next morning, excited to see what was in store.

Internationally acclaimed Australian designer, Collette Dinnigan, designed a collection of intimate apparel for Target, called Wild Hearts. According to Dinnigan, the collection features some of her signature lace, embroidery and silk printed fabrics which have been designed to make women experience the exclusiveness of one of her garments.

Below are some of the pieces featured in the Wild Hearts collection. You can check out the full collection in the Designers for Target website.

This time, the response is more quiet compared to Zac Posen‘s. There were still a number of ladies who came to check out the underwear, but not as many as before. I guess the hype for this is just not as strong.

Obviously I did not pose with these bras and panties in the fitting room and snap photos of myself like before, but I did leave the store with a lil’ something-something 😉

All purchased Collette Dinnigan for Target pieces would go into this pretty baby pink and black paper bag.

Collette Dinnigan Wild Hearts Underwear

I came out with a set of undies from the collection – a pair of La Vie En Rose high-cut briefs (sadly I’m not that into thongs, although those were pretty hot) and a La Vie En Rose Balconette bra. God I love it when my bras have proper names to ’em :p

Collette Dinnigan Wild Hearts Hanger
They gave me the hanger too. Aww cute.

All in all, I think the collection’s not all that great. The designs were pretty average, in fact. There were some granny-looking brown bras. Ugh. I expected more *shrug*.

The bras are priced at AUD39.99 each, panties AUD19.99, thongs AUD16.99, French knickers AUD24.99, and the sheer slips around AUD79.99.

Note: By the way, Target has restocked some of the Zac Posen pieces. Unfortunately, all the good ones were sold out, and will remain sold out. Dang.
