A Good Holiday Haul

Note: This post is picture-heavy.

I’ve finally gotten all the pictures of the stuff I brought back from Malaysia sorted out. Man, there were a lot of photos to sieve through. The husband had quite a shock looking at the amount of stuff I brought back. Thankfully, most of them were gifts, much to his relief.

Speaking of which, and digressing a wee bit, it’s our first wedding anniversary today 😀 Wow, it’s been a year already, how time flies, huh?

Okay, back to haul.

The couple of pictures below were gifts from when I met up with some beauty bloggers on my trip to Malaysia.

There were other miscellaneous items which I got too, such as contact lens solution, tissue packs, tampons, etc. Stuff which are much cheaper in Malaysia, that is.

Wait wait, I forgot to add this in.

Haul MAC 217

Yep, it’s the MAC #217 (blending brush), which is going into my collection of makeup brushes. It’s definitely cheaper in Malaysia. Plus, I have to say, I was impressed with the service I received at the MAC store at Gurney Plaza, Penang. They’ve definitely stepped up. Hmm I wonder if they read my rant? 😛

Oh, and I bought two pieces of clothing from Paperdoll too, which I’ll blog about separately.

Last but certainly not least, many thanks for all the great gifts, girls. I love ’em!

Back To The Sweltering Heat

Finally back in Melbourne. I’m glad to be back, but to tell you the truth, I can’t help but wish I was back in Malaysia instead, for the sweltering heat here is simply unbearable.

It’s bloody 45C outside.

It’s the hottest temperature I’ve ever experienced, and it’s very difficult to get used to. Makeup be damned; I only wear sunscreen and lipbalm (with sunscreen) now. And lots and lots of water, of course.

Photos of my haul coming up very soon. A lot of pressies from friends and cousins, lots of makeup (can’t wear it yet sadly, lest I want them to melt off my face once I step out of the house) 😛

PS: I’m using the wifi from the public library. Free air-con FTW! 😀

Random Trip Updates

My apologies for the lack of updates, ladies. Just a couple of days left to the Chinese New Year, and a lot’s been going on. Here are a few random bits of my trip so far:

1. Meeting up with a few fellow beauty bloggers at The Curve (TGI Friday’s) was one of the highlights of my trip. It was my first bloggie meet-up, and what a great one it was too. It was so good to finally meet up with the ladies behind the beauty blogs I so often read. And so many girls to share my love for makeup too!

‘Tis a pity Paris B couldn’t make it. Girl, vodka martinis on me when we do meet, yeah? 😉

Bloggie Meetup 9 Jan 2009
L-R: Me, Prettybeautiful, Rinnah, Carmen, Connie, Kahani, Beetrice (missing in the picture was Syen, who was snapped the photo)

Many thanks to Beetrice for arranging the gathering.

2. Sang at my cousin’s wedding with barely any practice before the event. The only time Bee and I practised was in her car. On the way to the wedding.

3. I accidentally deleted this blog, had a huge scare, but thankfully managed to retrieve most of it a few hours later.

4. Met up with my girlfriends and made Chinese New Year ribbon cookies for the very first time. Set up a makeshift sweatshop at my friend’s apartment’s kitchen, and sweated (literally) over the hot oil. But the results were so worth it.

5. Met up with my old classmates from secondary school. Oh how time has flown. Also realised that I actually have a social life when back in Malaysia compared to when in Australia.

6. Had a great time with my extended family at Genting Highlands.

Cousins at Genting 2009
The cousins back together, in a cable car. Hee hee, doesn’t Beetrice looked like she was wearing my scarf? 😛

We weren’t planning on even going to the outdoor theme park. I didn’t know what hit me, but when I saw the spinner and rollercoasters, suddenly I knew I had to give ’em a go. Better to do this when I don’t have children yet, eh?

That’s it for now. There’s more to talk about, but I’ll leave it to when I’m back in Melbourne. And oh my, I can’t wait to show you the stuff I’ll be bringing back too. It’s shopping haul gone crazy, I can tell you 😉

And I Thought I Was Just Window Shopping!

A few things caught my eye (and pocket) today as I roamed about Queensbay Mall whilst waiting for my girlfriends for dinner.

1. Stage Cosmetics face brush (TB6000-01) – really soft bristles, but it costs around RM135. I was very tempted to get one, but at that price, should I just pay a little more for a makeup brush of a more reputable brand? Or do I already have too many makeup brushes to begin with? *gulp*

2. The Body Shop’s Body Butter in Japanese Cherry Blossom – the sales assistant told me that if I were to buy anything from the range, including the perfume, I can get a 20% discount. But I don’t need the EDT. She still claims that the body butter’s cheaper if I get the both of them. But I don’t need the EDT. RM65 vs. RM115. You do the math. I bought just the body butter, and absolutely adore the scent (if you’re not into floral fragrances, this would turn you off).

3. Majolica Majorca’s eyeshadows – I’m quite impressed with the colour pay-off. I did not have high expectations of this one as I thought the texture would be gritty and the colours sheer, but they turned out to be rather creamy. Suffice to say, I came out of Watsons with one in pink. Oh, and Watsons is having a 10% discount on Majolica Majorca too, if you’re interested.

4. Eucerin’s Anti Age Hyaluron-Filler Wrinkle-Filling Treatment Night Moisturiser – Paris’ review on the Hydro Balance moisturiser really got me hooked on the stuff. It has replaced the Clinique Moisture Surge which I’ve been using, does the same job, but at a much lower price. The Hyaluron-Filler night moisturiser caught my eye. I figured it was no harm giving it a go, since the Hydro Balance did not disappoint. I shall review it in due time.

5. Tampons – Much cheaper here. Needless to say, I’ve stocked up enough to last me quite a while.

Oh, and the sales assistant (or was he a makeup artist as well?) at Stage commented on how lovely the Envirosax bag I was carrying was. Aww. ‘Tis sad on how much plastics bags are used here. Even a tiny mobile phone pouch required a bag. Le sigh.

*chant* Got to stop buying stuff I don’t need. Got to stop buying stuff I don’t need. *chant*

Ooooh … would you look at that shimmer brick by The Body Shop? Sweet!
