The Scent I Share With My Man

I’m not usually a fan of unisex fragrances, and I stay away from them as much as I can. I remembered very well; back in the day when the original CK One was immensely popular, plenty of men and women would soak themselves in it. A lot of my schoolmates had the fragrance, and on the schoolbus, the boys from a nearby high school would spray themselves like mosquito spray with CK One as well, and the whole bus absolutely reeked. *cough*

Anyway. Unisex fragrances? Nope, not a fan.

A few months ago, I purchased the Marc Jacobs Splash Curacao. I love citrusy scents, and the Curacao has been my favourite fragrance for months.

Marc Jacobs Curacao

Inspired by the first sip of a cool, sweet cocktail on a sun-soaked summer day, Marc Jacobs introduces three new Limited Edition Splash scents in Cranberry, Ginger, and Curacao. These refreshing new fragrances are vibrant in color, and crisp to the sense. They entice us to indulge in the simple pleasures of summer.
Topnote – Blood Oranges, Bitter Orange Bigrade, Lime, Mandarin
Midnote – Violet, Pear, Apricot
Drydown – White Moss, Amber, Musk, Sandalwood

One day, I realised that the amount of the MJ Curacao I had remaining did not really tally with the amount I use on an almost daily basis. It was less than what I recalled. Little did I know, Tim was nicking the Curacao for his daily use! Yes, this was from the man who complained that I have too many perfumes when I bought the MJ Curacao. His excuse was “It smells good, and there’s so much. Let’s share“. Harumph.

Marc Jacobs Curacao

It’s not a strong scent, and it does fade quite quickly. Truth be told, I think he smells damn good with it on. I’ll forgive him by getting myself a Chanel fragrance, perhaps? 😛

Do you share any fragrances with your man? Father? Brother? The bloke from Human Resource? 😛

Haha! Scents! Fragrances! Right up my ally!

I don’t share my fragrances cos I hoard them (as you would know) but I have no qualms in nicking someone else’s perfumes. I’ve been known to wear Terre d’Hermes cos it was made by my favourite perfumer and he can do no wrong (so far!). The Un Jardin series that I own are meant to be unisex and I use those exclusively in summer. I actually own a male scent: Eau d’Orange Verte by Hermes. I love the sharp citrusy notes assaulting my nostrils. Perfect pick-me-up on a stinker of a hot day!

LeGeeque: Oh hey that’s the scent I gasak-ed from Ah Boy! 😛 It’s a lovely scent. Damn, should have gotten 3 more atomisers from Daiso and nick more from his bottle 😛

I actually share the same scent (Bvlgari Rose) with a good male friend. Well, not the same bottle, of course, but the first time we met I thought he smelled fabulous (though not particularly manly), and when we became better friends I asked him about it and realised he was nicking his mother’s perfume daily (how weird is that?). When I learned it was a lady’s scent I went out and got the perfume within a couple of months! But I do make an effort not to wear it when I meet up with him, lest we end up smelling the same and weirding each other out.

Lynne: Hahahaha good one, Lynne! Your comment made me LOL 😛 I’ve thought of women nicking men’s fragrances, not so much the other way round, and definitely not mum’s! 😛

I used to be able to use perfumes for men, or unisex perfumes e.g. CK One when I was younger, but as I grew up I find that fruity scents seem to suit me better. I don’t share perfumes with my boyfriend- I use Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh and he Issey Miyake 😛 My Mum and Dad share the same scent though- Aramis. Mum loves perfumes for men and she can carry them quite well, unlike me!

Stephanie: Oh I remember Aramis. My beloved late grandfather was a very big fan of Aramis, and everytime I smell something from Aramis, it reminds me very much of him 🙂

Ella: To be honest, it’s not that bad a scent. The first time I sniffed it, I quite liked it. Unfortunately, waaaaaaaay too many people wore the same fragrance, and too much of it at the same time. Too much of it in the hot Malaysian weather….*shudder* 😛

  9. Issa

Haha, I am one of those who used CK back then! I used to wear men’s perfume back in college! 🙂 I don’t mind whether it be for men or women as long as I like the scent and as long as it has a mild scent! 🙂

    1. Tine

Issa: Hehehe oops 😛 It’s definitely a very lasting fragrance. It’s been around for so many years 🙂
