KORA by Miranda Kerr: Organic Rich Body Lotion

Is it very unAustralian of me to say I’ve never really liked Miranda Kerr? Something about her just rubs me the wrong way. I just don’t know what it is. So when she launched her own skincare line, Kora by Miranda Kerr, I pooh-poohed the range, figured it was yet another celebrity launching his/her own fragrance, skincare products, etc. Plus, to be honest, the products ain’t exactly cheap to begin with.

Still, when I saw a few Kora products in the MBBE goodie bag, I was quite keen to try them out. What better way to see if they really work, or if they would just be nothing more than a celebrity-endorsed item?

First to try was the Organic Rich Body Lotion.

KORA by Miranda Kerr Organic Rich Body Lotion

Description:

The ultimate all over body moisturiser providing the skin with complete nourishment and protection. Organically grown Jojoba, Noni Extract, Cocoa Butter and Macadamia reintroduce Essential fatty Acids into the skin while Plant Botanicals help soften and protect the skin from harmful free radicals.

The lotion is an unassuming, and rather unflattering shade of beige. Beige. Ugh, even the word leaves a bland taste in the mouth. The texture and feel of the cream are not as rich and thick as I expected. Still, it’s not greasy, spreads well onto the skin and absorbs quickly.

Despite the colour, I have to say, I’m actually quite in love with the lotion! It smells amazing, with a blend of organic plant botanicals (jojoba, sandalwood and macadamia, cocoa butter, and that noni juice she’s always yammering on about). Even though it’s described as a rich body lotion, it’s actually quite light on my dry skin. It’s a definite check for me for the coming warm summer nights. Having said that, there are some who still say that it’s quite thick for summer use. I use mine straight out of the shower when my skin is still slightly damp, thus it was just fine for me.

So Miranda Kerr, dammit, you got me on this one. I really do like this body lotion, and I’m more than ready to try out the other products from your KORA range.

KORA by Miranda Kerr’s Organic Rich Body Lotion retails at AU$44.95 for 200ml and is available at David Jones.

What I like about it: Love the aromatherapy scent, moisturises the skin well, not greasy.

What I do not like about it: The colour’s a bit offputting for me. Beige. Blegh 😛

Suffering Some Really Bad Skin

What a hell of a week it has been. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll know that I’ve been having trouble with my skin the past few days. On a normal day, I have combination skin; an oily T-zone and relatively normal everywhere else. However, for the past few days, I’ve been having extremely dry and sensitive skin all over my face. It’s peeling very badly; I even have peely eyelids.

Camera’s not showing the true condition, but it’s bad. Real bad.

It’s now so dry, that my skin is awfully tight all over, regardless of how much moisturiser I use. If that’s what Botox feels like, the tightness on the skin, not being able to fully lift my brows or move my cheeks, then I don’t think I want any part of it. My face feels like sandpaper to the touch. In fact, yesterday morning, I found that a patch on my cheek has dried up so bad, it’s now a shade darker in the size of a 50-cent coin. My cheeks also burned every time I splash them with water, or apply moisturiser.

Hardly anything I do or apply is helping. Paris B suggested aloe vera, which I applied, but it just made stung the cheeks (weird, right?). The only thing that remotely helped the burning sensation was Lucas Papaw ointment. I’ve stopped using my usual skincare products. The only products I’m using right now are Cetaphil’s gentle skin cleanser and its moisturising lotion. These are the only products that don’t burn or sting the skin.

To be honest, I don’t know how this started. I have a very bad feeling it was due to the daily use of my Clarisonic, but I only used it for 4 days before the dryness began. I did the whole process of elimination, cutting out whatever product that could have aggravated the skin. No luck there. At this stage, it seemed as though everything I use is just making it worse.

Will be making an appointment with a dermatologist about this. Very worried that the blemishes caused by the dryness will be permanent.

Sigh … when will this end? 🙁

November = No Shopping Month

November Is No Shopping Month

Big shocker, thanks to the strong AUD, I’ve been shopping, shopping, shopping and have completely blown my budget for October. The pocket screamed for mercy, the credit card companies rejoiced in the extensive use of the card. That’s it, no more.

I hereby declare November to be a “NO SHOPPING MONTH“.

It shouldn’t be too difficult, I hope *gulp*. I’ve done “no shopping” months before and I survived. This should be no different. Sure there’s the Sephora sale, Saks Fifth Avenue sale … STOP.

Deep breaths, Tine. Deep breaths, and close down damn webpages.

So for November, the only item I’m allowed to buy that’s even remotely beauty-related is toothpaste, if I run out of any. No sneaky purchases from Coles or Woolies. I mean, a magazine or two is considered groceries, right? NO.

No books, no beauty products, no clothes, no accessories, no gadgets of any kind, no beauty treatments (well, this one’s a doozy, since I’ve already prepaid for some via Jump On It, Spreets, etc :P)

No shopping online for anything. So even if I see any good books on Book Depository, or Borders screaming 40% discount, these would be considered taboo.

Sales? I shall be blind and deaf to that word.

Let’s see how I fare after a month, shall we?

*fingers tightly crossed*
