Turning Thirty

I joined the 3-0 bandwagon over the weekend. And what a birthday it was. My family didn’t forget me (well, they almost did last year), my girlfriends from Malaysia sent me wonderful gifts, dear friends to celebrate my birthday with me this year, great pressies … oh, what a day it was.

20100611 Jewellery Books

Jewellery books from MC and Hester. It was completely unexpected as they were both from Book Depository. When I returned to Melbourne, I was expecting a book from Book Depository, but not two, and certainly not three. Plus you know how Book Depository works; they send out each book separately. When my girls told me the books were from them, I was over the moon.

20100611 Chanel Coco Rouge

Pressie from LeGeeque and SY. My first Chanel lipstick! There’s a funny story to that lippie. You see, I’ve been wanting to get that Coco Rouge in Organdi Rose for months, but I’ve got way too many lip products to justify another purchase, and an expensive one too. LeGeeque told me to finish one lip product first before buying a new one, and we could do that together. But when she asked me what I wanted for my birthday, *ahem ahem*, no surprises that I hinted on the Chanel lipstick. Technically, I wasn’t cheating. I didn’t personally get the Coco Rouge (which I adore, by the way), which ALSO means that when my Stila lipgloss is finally finished, I’m still entitled to another lip product! 😛

The best present of all was from dear hubby for that three weeks in Tassie, who showed me a lovely time bringing me here and there for good sights and great food. On top of that, guess what else he got me?

Ahh … turning thirty wasn’t so bad after all 🙂

Readers, We Have A Problem

Update: I’ve reverted to the old design just to see if visitor count goes back up. This will be up for a couple of days. Process of elimination going on here. Just so I don’t tear out all my hair in frustration.

Something’s terribly wrong with the new Beautyholics Anonymous. Ever since I updated the design to this blog (on June 1), my visitor count has dropped drastically. No bragging or conceit intended, but I’ve lost an average of 900 visitors a day ever since the launch.

20100610 Blog Problem
See what I mean?

My first approach to fixing the problem was to check the statistics tracking code. There are three methods used to track visitors on my blog – Google Analytics, Statcounter and WordPress.com’s own tracking stats. All seemed to be in order. I have the blog subscribed to my own Google Reader, and I have been getting the updates as posted. Despite the Feedburner subscriber count, I’m still not getting the average readership number. I’m running out of options here.

Dear readers, I really need your help.

1. If you’re subscribed to my feed via an RSS reader (e.g. Google Reader) and/or via email, please let me know if you’ve been receiving any updates to my blog. I know that posts have been rather sporadic, but there are a few more articles posted after the blog redesign.

2. The only changes I’ve made to the blog, other than the physical ones, are the addition of the LinkWithin widget and threaded commenting plugin. I’ve noted that a lot of you bloggers out there also use the LinkWithin widget. If you’ve encountered any problems with that on your blogs, please let me know.

3. For readers who are subscribed to my feed via Google Friend Connect (or something of the sort), and have my feed on your blog sidebar, please let me know what the last post update is.

As a temporary solution, and part of a process of problem elimination on my part, please delete the current feed and resubscribe.

If you have any ideas on what’s going on, what I can do to fix this problem (by the way, it’s not due to the lack of posts, even though they have been sporadic of late. Lack of posts would result in a gradual decline of readership, not a drastic drop in a day), I highly appreciate your help and advice.

Many thanks in advance!

Tatcha Japanese Blotting Papers

I have a terribly oily T-zone and blotting papers are my skin saviours. I use The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil Facial Blotters, but those are incredibly boring compared to these gorgeous babies I stumbled upon on the Internet.

Tatcha Japanese Blotting Papers

Aren’t they pretty? These are Japanese blotting papers by Tatcha (US$12 for 30 sheets), which are handmade in Japan and have real gold flakes infused into the papers. I would love to get my hands on these if I can. If anything, these would look so chic in my purse 😛
