Beautyholics Anonymous Turns Three!

THE GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING!

Beautyholics Anonymous Turns Three

I’m so proud to announce that Beautyholics Anonymous is celebrating its 3rd birthday this month. It’s been three wonderful years, and it really has been fun writing about health, beauty, fashion, etc. The best part of blogging for me was getting know you readers and fellow bloggers, and having the pleasure of meeting some of you in person.

Another reason to celebrate the occasion, even though it’s slightly earlier than it should be, is that I turn 30 next month. Yep, the big 3-0. 😛

And so, to celebrate these momentous occasions, I’d like to present a goodie bag to one lucky reader.

One lucky reader will receive all of these:

Dermalogica mediBac Clearing Oil Control Lotion

After my delightful facial at Endota Spa, my beauty therapist threw in many sample sachets of the Oil Control Lotion for me to try out at home, enough to last me almost a month. I don’t normally buy moisturisers as my skin is oily and prone to breakouts, but I was tired of my yellow moisturiser, so I was ready to give this one a go.

Even before the month was over, I knew I had to get the full-sized bottle. I liked it that much.

Dermalogica mediBac Oil Control Lotion

Description:

Recommended for areas of excess oil production, Dermalogica mediBac Oil Control Lotion is a feather-light lotion containing microsponges to absorb oil on the skin’s surface, helping combat shine for a matte finish.

Dermalogica mediBac Oil Control Lotion leaves you feeling confidently shine-free all day thanks to microsponges which absorb excess skin oil. Using niacinamide, zinc gluconate, yeast extract, caffeine and biotin to purify and inhibit overactive sweat glands and salicylic acid to clear congested follicles mediBac Oil Control Lotion minimises future breakout activity.

Ultimately wanting to keep you shine-free for longer Dermalogica uses enantia chlorantha bark extract to control over-active oil glands, helping to reduce oily shine on the skin’s surface while the naturally-antiseptic camphor, balm mint and cornflower cool and calm inflammation.

Ingredients:

Dermalogica mediBac Oil Control Lotion Ingredients

The moisturiser contains salicylic acid, which combats breakouts with its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it suitable for oily and breakout-prone skin.

The texture of the moisturiser was light. Very light in fact, which was great news for my oily, congested skin. The lotion absorbed very quickly, without leaving a hint of shine on the skin. It controlled the oilies very well. I barely needed to use facial blotters with this on. My skin didn’t break out at all, not even during that time of the month.

I’m glad to say that this is one of the best oil control moisturisers I’ve ever used. But as it’s very light, it’s probably not rich enough for night use, especially in a dry environment. I use this as my day moisturiser, and I’m very pleased with it. Will I repurchase? Heck yeah. This has easily become my holy grail of day moisturisers.

The Oil Control Lotion is part of the mediBac range for skin prone to acne and breakouts. Its RRP is AU$60.50 (59ml), although I did buy it from Strawberrynet for AU$50.50 😛

What I like about it: Light in texture, non-greasy, fantastic oil control.

What I do not like about it: Nothing

Fashion Victim. Literally.

So there I was this morning, all dressed up and ready to head out. To put the finishing touches on my *ahem* Gossip Girl-esque outfit, I slipped on something befitting of Blair Waldorf – the headband.

Gossip Girl Blair Waldorf

I bought the headband in a shop in Chadstone over the weekend. ‘Twas a simple, but pretty grosgrain ribboned-band, which sat quite nicely on my rather large head. Not too loose, not too tight. I left the house feeling pretty damn good about myself, if I may say so 😛

20100429 Headband

Unfortunately, just under an hour of my being outdoors, came this excruciating headache, which concentrated on the left temple. It was rather odd, because I wasn’t feeling ill at all before I left. I thought it was perhaps I hadn’t hydrated myself properly, so I immediately took out my bottled water. Half of it downed, the head was still throbbing.

Just as I thought, ahh screw it, I’ll go home, I decided to take the headband off. Guess what? The headache disappeared. It was gone as soon as it was off. The damn thing was giving me the headache!

Shucks. Well, headband, it was good while it lasted. But you’ve got to go, and I don’t think I can remain a fashion victim any longer. Don’t think my head can take it.

Had any health-related fashion disasters lately?
