Furious, So Furious

Update: The seller very kindly offered a refund for the notebook (it was her first sale on eBay too), but I declined. It wasn’t her fault in the first place; she should not be held accountable for what the thief did. I accepted her terms of regular post when bidding, and that’s that.

I am so furious right now, I can’t even think straight. A week ago I ordered a Moleskine notebook from eBay. The transaction was smooth, and I was really looking forward to receiving the notebook in the mail. Until I saw this in the mailbox just now.

20090911 Stolen Package

This was shoved in my mailbox along with other letters. I checked with the post office, but because it’s not registered, they hadn’t a clue who sent it. The only clue was the sticker on the padded envelope. The postcode showed 2170, which is from NSW. And the only item I’m expecting from NSW is the notebook.

Someone bloody ripped open my package from the other side of the slot (my mailbox is a slot; the postie didn’t push the package all the way in), stole the notebook, and left me with the other half of the envelope!!

ARGH. I don’t know what to do now. Is there anything I can even do? It’s clearly stated in the eBay transaction that the notebook will be sent via regular post, not registered. I can’t blame the seller; she did the job, the notebook was delivered. Just some asshole stole it.

I need to punch something right now. I’m FUMING!!

To the person who stole my notebook – really? Stoop that low just to nick a freakin’ notebook?! May the curse of a thousand poxes rain on you, you scumbag! *shake my fists*

PS: I know that there are so many innuendos in this post, but really, I can’t even be arsed about it now.

Goodness! That IS sick! Unfortunately methinks the Ebay seller is clean – you (sorta) got the notebook … well half the envelope anyway. Warts to grow where the sun don’t shine for the notebook thief!

maybe make a complaint to your local PO.. though the parcel was delivered successfully, but i believe a responsible postman wouldn’t leave mail sticking out halfway!

i’ve heard of local postmans leaving parcels outside the door (along the corridor where anyone and everyone can just steal your package) when the parcel needs to be signed for!

    Paris:
Definitely not blaming the seller, wasn’t her fault after all. Just really angry at the postie and, of course, the @#$% thief!

    Daphne:
Oh yeah, the posties do leave parcels outside the door here. What they’d do is that they’d buzz you over the intercom and let you know that it’s outside the door. If you’re not home, they just leave it outside. I’m just surprised that the postie didn’t just push it in under the door. It’s thin enough anyway.

if it was thin enough, it *should* have been pushed all the way under (should being the operative word!) but nevertheless, a POX on the miscreant’s head – Paris, why stop at warts? 🙂 I’m going for GANGRENE!! *grrr*

Can you claim the loss from the postal service? If the seller still has the receipt she may be able to claim the value back. Usually parcels in Canada are like that though I’m not sure about Australia.

  6. electronicfly

Try getting a refund from the post office? It was their fault for leaving it half out so that others can steal it. I hope it wasn’t too expensive. 🙁

What a horrible thing to do!! On top of getting warts and gangrene like Paris and Bee suggested, i hope the person gets paper cuts everytime he / she touches a notebook!! Grrr!

  8. Nikki

I would be super furious too! OH MY! the nerve for stealing!!!! Well, I think the stealer got all the sickness from all the lovely girls above! I just think he’ll trip at his own “stolen” notebook, hit his nose hard and break it, then the bleeding won’t stop and he’ll freak out and he’ll trip all over again this time hitting his head and he Won’t go unconscious and will feel all the pain and he has no choice but to use the “stolen” notebook as a napkin as he can’t find anything to stop the blood from flowing…

    Now…i’m not that mad..I’m not that mad..LOL

  9. Emily

    That sucks SO MUCH!

Try complaining to the postal service, maybe they’ll learn from their mistakes so this kind of crap won’t happen to anyone else.

  10. Jess

Oh my gosh! I feel for u Tine…that idiot’s gonna pay for it i reckon with everyone’s ‘blessings’…

  11. Anais

Oh my…! I would be SO MAD too!
The postal service is responsible of this!

  12. Ida

Maybe there are some finger prints of buglar on the package…it would be interesting for police…anyway…maybe someone near your home..or maybe not…it’s really hard!

  13. Jess

That’s super annoying! I hope, something like this doesn’t happen too often though… :/

  14. gio

That sucks Tine, I’m sorry! I’d be mad too! You should trying complaining to the postal service. They shouldn’t just leave parcels outside the door.

  15. designerswimwearlover

What a horrible feeling to have this happen to you!!! Our postmaster knocks on our door to deliver packages to large for the mailbox and will even return if no one is home!!! Isnt that what tghey should do??? Either way, whoever took the notebook had better watch out, payback is a *X$#%^!!!!!

  16. akisalove

what the!! That’s awful!! How could anyone be as desperate as to steal a moleskin notebook… Why not just get one from Borders. That way it goes straight into your bag…

  17. Chic and Classic

Who would do such a mean thing?

  18. emily@shinyshampoo

    OMG!!

  19. Helly

awww i’m so sorry it happend to you 🙁 now i finally know why i have to pick it up personally at the post office. i wont ever complain again !! (i’m from syd)

  20. sesame

What about the mail carrier? Possible suspect especially for not pushing the item in?

  21. Music

It’s horrible. When I lived in Perth my posts were stollen at least twice because the postman didn’t shove the package in the post box properly. On one occassion the thief managed to steal the notification card and tried collecting my package from the post office! Good thing the people at the post office didn’t give it to whoever that was, only marked it on my package as “failed identification” – which I spotted when I collected it after receiving a “final reminder” even before getting any notification before. I think you should complain straight to the post office about it.

  22. Eru

OMG! That is awful. If I were you I would complain at the PO so the next time they push the packages all the way in!!
