Where Do You Get Your Blogging Ideas?

My Blogging Station

My blogging station. It’s nice when the sun’s up. Oh yes, I multitask on the iPad as well.

All of my blog posts started out as drafts. Years ago I would sit in front of the computer and ideas would just come rushing in. Nowadays, no such luck. Inspiration would hit just about anywhere BUT the computer.

Examples on times I would be struck with blogging ideas:

  • On the train or bus, when there’s nothing else to do during the journey but get lost in your thoughts.
  • In front of the TV, when I’m watching a movie or the news.
  • In the shops, when I’m window-shopping for beauty products, clothes, bags, shoes, etc. You’d be surprised that I even get inspiration when I’m buying chicken at Woolies.
  • On the porcelain throne. Hey, when inspiration strikes, it doesn’t matter what you’re doing 😛
  • Chatting with fellow beauty bloggers. This is the best way for me because you’re never out of stuff to talk about, which you can turn into useful topics for your blog. It’s also good to hear feedback about a product or service you’re about to review from other bloggers as well.

Where do you get your blogging ideas?

PS: I drafted this post on the iPad when Sunrise on Channel 7 was playing in the background on a Sunday morning 🙂

WOW! You have such a nice and comfortable blogging station! Ideas? Hmmm..now you have me thinking, I usually take photos of stuff I have in my room, whether useful or useless then I will get ideas just by looking at the photos I’ve taken 😀

Nikki: Haha my “blogging station” is at my home office, not much makeup or inspiration there to help me along 😛

Love your blogging station! Mine is less organized 😛 Inpiration hits from anywhere for me. I’ve been blogging so long, anything I see/do/think/read can spark me off LOL! I think in blog posts 😛

Paris B: Hahahahaha same here! When I see something, it could be totally unrelated but I think “hmm could I blog about this?” 😛

so many inspirations! i do get inspirations when i go shopping, but if i don’t write it down somewhere, it soon disappears! so for me, would be by checking my photo folder 😛

    1. Tine

Xin: Voice-record it onto your phone! That’s a good way for me to note down any ideas too. Although it might look a bit suspicious if you’re doing it outside a jewellery store 😛

my inspirations is reading magazines or other blogs and of course talking to the lovely bloggers online.

I did suffer from writers block this week though and was staring at the article for 4 days before I got it completed, so know when inspiration is low, it can be hard to write…

    1. Tine

Lilpil: Yeah I know what you mean, I went through a bout of that too. Became so bad I blogged 3 times in a month. Readership tanked 🙁

Magazines do help a great deal. You could snap pictures of your favourite articles and post it up. That’s a post right there 🙂

I love your blogging station, mine is so messy! lol. I get my inspiration from different sources, while reading beauty blogs, talking to other fellow bloggers or friends, watching tv or movies, shopping…

    1. Tine

Gio: Beauty blogs and bloggers, that’s my source of inspiration too. It’s great to be in a community of beauty bloggers, to be able to share ideas and all that 🙂

I tend to get a lot of my ideas when I’m in the bath for some reason, all the bathroom toiletries must stimulate my brain lol, sometimes I get ideas from fellow bloggers or twitter, usually inspiration comes pretty quickly if I’m using a product I love or hate 🙂

    1. Tine

Jade: Hey I completely forgot to add Twitter as a source of inspiration! I’m on it so often, and yet I forget that I get ideas from you lovelies as well *facepalm*

Aww nice to be able to take baths. We no longer have a bathtub, just a shower stand. Too quick to get much relaxation out of it 😛

Hey Tine! My “blogging station” looks so similar to yours! But mine is more messy and there is always a kitty sleeping there -)
I get inspiration from magazines and shopping mostly, but it also strikes me on the road and when I watch videos. Music inspires me alot and an ocassional drink at the bar with a friend can also be inspirational.

    1. Tine

Linaho: Awww that’s so sweet, a kitty sleeping in your blogging station! I can’t wait till I have a dog for that too 😛 Oooh I forgot about videos and music; that inspire me too 🙂

    1. Tine

Elle: I have that too! Which also means my desk is usually cluttered with a lot of stuff (I obviously prettied up for the picture in the post :P). Fun, very beauty-writer-like 😛

  9. Bun Bun Makeup Tips

Nice blogging station! My table is half occupied by my iMac, and the other half is just everything else conveniently and messily pushed aside. And I face the wall =( No sunny day, rainy day, cloudy inspiration of whatsoever~ Booo

    1. Tine

Bun Bun Makeup Tips: Aww shucks. I guess I’m lucky, because back in Malaysia, my desk faces a window as well. Makes a big difference 🙂
