Bioeffect EGF Serum Makes Me Eat Humble Pie

Bioeffect EGF Serum

I’ll be honest, the first time I heard of the Bioeffect EGF serum, I thought it was fluff. Never mind that I’ve never even heard of the brand (from Iceland, eh? Oooh how la di dah!), the claims that they make, about how revolutionary the serum is, etc, I thought were a bit out there.

About 6 months ago, I was sent a tiny sample of the serum to try out. It was a wee 3ml one, and I thought nothing of it, and left it aside. Fast forward to the Australian Beauty Bloggers Weekend, I received another 3ml sample in the goodie bag. Call it a sign if you will, but I finally decided to try it out.

Ladies, where’s that humble pie I’m to eat? 😛

Description:
As skin matures, the level of natural cellular activators decreases. The skin renews itself less frequently, loses its elasticity and fine lines and wrinkles begin to appear. Regular daily use of BIOEFFECT EGF Serum directly addresses this process at a cellular level and delivers visible dramatic improvements, often within days. Used over time, our many satisfied customers testify to notable reduction in fine lines and dark circles under the eyes, improved tone, and radiant looking skin that is supple, soft and glowing with youthful vitality – so much so that others notice!
• Reduces visible signs of aging
• Adds radiance and luminosity
• Moisturises deeply
• Diminishes dry spots
• Improves complexion
• Hypoallergenic

Bioeffect EGF Serum Ingredients

The serum is clear and has a viscous consistency. It reminds me very much of Hada Labo’s Moisturizing Lotion. As I have combination skin, only two drops of the serum is required for my face (I use regular night cream on my neck and decolletage). It isn’t oily and doesn’t leave the face looking and feeling like a grease-pot. In fact, right after application, my skin appears healthy and luminous. And very boing-boing!

Bioeffect EGF Serum

There are 3 reasons why this serum works for me:

  1. Visible results after the first application. Very, very rarely do I encounter such an effect after just 1 application. The next day, my skin is plump, healthy and very “boing boing”.
  2. I only need very little of the serum to go on the whole face.
  3. Best reason of all: the comments I get about my skin when I was back in Malaysia. I’ve used the Bioeffect serum for a month then, and I was over the moon as too the results that showed on my skin. Mum’s words when she saw me at the airport “Oh my goodness girl, you have such smooth and glowy skin!“. I received the same comments from my aunt and friends as well. 😀

Bioeffect EGF Serum

One 3ml serum lasted me well over 3 weeks. I used it on alternate days, coupled with Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair serum. According to Bioeffect, the serum is highly moisturising that I do not need an additional moisturiser over the serums. For my skin type, I highly agree.

I love using this on evenings I know I need to look especially good the next day. I can’t rave more about the serum, I like it that much.

Now, comes the part that I don’t like. This I really, really do not like. The price. The serum is expensive for so little product. It costs AU$180 for a measly 15ml for a full-sized bottle. I can’t remember the time I savoured a skincare sample so much. That 2 wee bottles of 3ml each samples were used so sparingly, it’s ridiculous (yet, I still get the fantastic results I want). That’s why I had to use a separate night cream for my neck and decolletage on evenings that I use the Bioeffect serum. They wouldn’t be able to last that long if I slapped the serum on my neck and chest as well.

I still have about half a bottle of the second sample left. Will I purchase the full-sized bottle when I’m finished with the samples? No doubt about it, it’s a very resounding yes. Sometimes, you just have to invest in skincare, and if that product gives me holy-crap-look-at-your-skin-it’s-gorgeous skin, I’m on it like crack. Since I only use 3ml a month, I’m justifying that it’ll take at least 5 months to finish the whole bottle, right? Fingers crossed 😛

The Bioeffect EGF serum is available for purchase on the Bioeffect Australia website.

What I like about it: Gives me luminous boing-boing skin after just 1 application. Sold!

What I do not like about it: Lord, it’s pricey.

OMG! That’s pricey! Now if only I can score a freebie to test it out before spending the big bucks…. Maybe they’ll read your blog and sponsor a giveaway 🙂

Jos: I’ve only ever seen one blog sponsor a giveaway for this (full-sized bottle). Drats. Oh well, fingers crossed 😛

I just emailed them and (humbly) requested a sample. They replied by return and sent me a sample. It worked. I am hooked! I now use it daily.

Cendana: Hahaha my favourite sort of skincare products are the ones that give me boing boing skin! 😛 Do give your sample a go. Use sparingly because I have heard of a few bloggers getting breakouts from this.

  5. Madam M

I could have sworn I had 2 of these samples as well to try but looks although one has gone missing. If I locate the missing one it might just magically appear in someones mail box!

Omg another post about EGF and you are saying it works (the one I read before was in Russian but the girl was also very excited) ! Now I have hope there’s going to be a cure for aging …

    1. Tine

Lina: I don’t know about a cure for aging, but I’m really excited about the Bioeffect serum too 😛

  8. Lauren

I have a sample of this that I’d been using on, but now off for a while now and I too was like ‘yeah, like it’ll make a difference’ but after reading this I think I’m going to have to try it again and hope it does the same for me!

Lauren: I’m afraid this doesn’t work for everyone. I have heard of negative reviews from a few bloggers, saying that this broke them out. I use this every alternate evening and my skin just loves it. I hope yours will too 🙂

  9. Eunice

I got a sample after emailing them. You can give it a go!

    1. Tine

Eunice: Oooh did you email the website or a PR from Bioeffect? 😛

  10. Amy

I’ve emailed them a couple of days ago as well and they were quick to reply so I’m getting a sample, can’t wait to try it! 😛

    1. Tine

Amy: Good for you Amy! 😀

Be aware: EGF plumps up skin in the short term, but in the long run is dangerous. It is a mitogen. Can lead to cancer. Doctors and scientists have recently reviewed it at the site barefacedtruth, com.

Also, most environmental scientists worldwide consider transgenic pharming to be an abomination.

    1. Tine

Shawn: Thanks for the heads up! I’ll definitely look more into this 🙂

Hi I know this post it’s from 2012. It’s 2017 and I would like to know if you still use the Bioeffect EGF Serum. I’m thinking on buying it but i’m afraid of all the warnings on the long term use. It’s been 5 years since you posted this. Do you still see benefits? Please let me know. Thanks.
