My criteria for choosing body lotions – they have to be light, non-greasy, and most importantly, they have to smell good (subtle scent, not overbearing). A lot of the body lotions I get are pretty rubbish. But the Whipped Silk … aahhh, I think I’ve found my holy grail of body lotions. Why? Because I actually bought another bottle of it. And I have never bought more than a bottle of the same body lotion after it is finished.
Yeah, I’m picky like that.

When I first applied the lotion on my arm, I noticed that the lotion was non-greasy, and was very quickly absorbed into the skin. That’s a very good thumbs-up from me, as I hate greasy lotions. The thing I love most about the Whipped Silk body lotion is the smell! It’s simply heavenly. It has a very subtle, lightly floral fragrance, and really, I just couldn’t stop smelling my arm after application!

This is one that gives the “whipped” effect to the lotion. How cute :p
A thing to note about the Whipped Silk body lotion though. As it is very light, multiple applications may be required. This is good for summer temperatures, but it will not be sufficient for cold and dry winters (you’ll need a more heavy-duty one for that). As the lotion is so light and quickly-absorbed, there are some which may think that the lotion is not effective. Well, it worked for me; the scaly skin on my legs have significantly improved, and is a lot smoother and softer now. Good enough for me 🙂
This 59ml tube retails at RM6.90 and the 354ml bottle retails at RM15.90 at all St Ives counters.
What I like about this: Light, non-greasy, and I absolutely LOVE the scent!
What I did not like about this: On the contrary, this is too light for cold and dry weathers.

I believe I went through at least 5 of the big bottles before I went off to the US and had to get something thicker for the dry weather.
there used to be two variants of whipped silk! now they discontinued the other one already. 🙁
i used to use whipped silk a loooong time ago, but now i’ve switched to palmer’s cocoa butter because i need the vit. e to fade some scars on my legs….recently i bought the st ives collagen and elastic tube lotion and ever since then, i’ve been thinking of going back to st ives…because of the great fragrance and light texture!! hehehehe

I LURVEEEEEEEE this purple flavor to bits. I don’t quite fancy the pink one though. And, i love the shape of the lotion when i u squeeze it out from the bottle! It looks like the muruku 😀 😀 but i do agree with you that the moisturizing effect is too little for our country

oh ya..any recommendations for a lotion with SPF for day use? my arms are getting so tan because of all the driving i do! also must be non greasy one! thx!

To be fair, Palmer’s cocoa butter work better with very dry skin, compared to this. This one’s a lot lighter. I’ve tried St Ives’ collagen lotion too. Didn’t really like the smell, although my skin did feel real soft after use.

This product might be worth a look too – Skin MD Natural in the UK . It’s a shielding lotion which uses some new skin care technology (whatever that means!) to moisturize 6 times more effectively than the standard glycerin based moisturizers. As a shielding lotion it keeps the chemical irritants out too. It looks pretty good.

i’m an avid reader. love your style of writing. just to let Jess know that i just got a bottle of whipped silk (354 ml) from Caring Pharmacy (ss14 pj) for rm12.90. think they’ve got 2 bottles left.
Why have you stopped making the whipped silk body wash? I have Migrane headachs and I can’t use any of your products that have a smell to it.. ayour vanillia, coconut, Shes-butter and nearly all your body wash products have a very smell to them. You used to have one that did not have a smell to it and I loved it. Now I have a hard (very hard) time finding any body washes without a smell .
Sorry to hear about your headaches but I’m, erm, not St Ives. I’m not the brand nor am I affiliated with them. This is just a review of the product I did many years ago. I’m not sure where you’re based but have you tried Aveeno’s fragrance-free body washes? They’re neutral-smelling and would be suitable for migraine sufferers. Good luck!
