Review: Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer (Fig)

I’ve always wanted to try out the Burt’s Bees range. To my knowledge, Burt’s Bees is not available in Malaysia just yet (please correct me if I’m wrong), yet I’ve heard so much of it at Viva Woman. To my delight, this is available here. I discovered (and purchased) a few Burt’s Bees products at David Jones. First item in my shopping list, and something relatively safe to buy, would be the lip shimmers. The one I bought was in the Fig shade.

Oh my, have I just found yet another holy grail of lip balms? Granted, this one has a hint of colour in it, but oh my goodness, this is one good lip balm. I absolutely LOVE it. The lip balm glided smoothly on my lips, and kept my lips hydrated in the increasingly chilly weather. It also contains peppermint oil, which leaves a cool, tingling feeling on my lips.

The hint of colour was also very much welcomed. Before applying lipstick or lipgloss, I’d normally apply lip balm on my lips liberally before applying my lip colour. With the lip shimmer, there was no need to. It’s positively tiny in size, and so easy to carry around with me. I can’t wait to get the other colours.

Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmer retails at AUD11.95, and is available at David Jones (Chadstone).

What I like about it: Pretty hint of colour, keeps my lips properly hydrated, and love the minty-tingly effect on my lips.

What I did not like about it: Nothing.

GIRL!!!! I’ve used this and I LOVED this, one product!!! I can help you add a negative comment, hehehe the only negative would be you have to repurchase faster than regular lip balm as its so slim!!!! You use it up faster than regular lip balm!!! But isn’t the colors wonderful??? I love them all!!!! It’s just that i needed somewhat stronger lip balm so I’m using Kiehls and use this as my “lip stain” hehehe It looks great on your lips ..really 🙂

Oh oh oh oh oh. I prefer using colored lip balms and glosses to lipsticks and this post has gotten me all intrigued! But… I haven’t seen this in Malaysia… *sobs*

  3. Syen

*sighs* yet another thing that Malaysian beauty addicts can look at and not get. =P

    WHY???

  4. parisb

Nope its not here Boo! 😛

i have the burt’s bees honey lipbalm and i loooove it! it keeps my lips so moisturized without chapping them, and it doesn’t feel greasy at all. did you have a whiff of their beeswax & banana hand cream? it smells sooo good 🙂

  6. prettybeautiful

damn, why no lip balm here like tht? here all colorless, or colors that don’t stay well. damn damn

I love Burt’s Bees lip balms but somehow never took to their lip shimmmers. Maybe the one I picked (Rasin) happened to be too dry for me. My colleague who shared the same comment as me uses hers on top of a lip balm though to get away from the dryness.

Looks good, girl. I’m always on the lookout for good, hydrating lip balms. Is it really moisturizing? My lips are forever dry and gets chapped during winters so really, the best balm has been Vaseline for me. hehe…love the colour though.

Hehehe, I think that it being so compact is also a selling point, since it’s so portable. But yeah, this is a good one. My next gloss to try will be Kiehls 😉

    Rinnah:
Unfortunately, Burt’s Bees isn’t available in Malaysia yet. You can get it in Singapore though. I like my lippies to do all the work without me having to apply so many layers. I’m lazy like that :p

    Syen:
Put it this way – Malaysia has Lip Ice (which, in my opinion, is very good, contrary to what other people think) and we can’t get it here :p

    Paris:
Yeah 🙁 Imagine me salivating after reading Sesame’s posts on Burt’s Bees stuff previously but not being able to get ’em. Now imagine my excitement when I saw it here at David Jones. I actually yelped in the store. Tsk tsk tsk :p

    Cheeeezie:
Oooh I think I have that one too (the beeswax and banana hand cream); got it in a set of Burt’s Bees stuff. I have yet to try out my honey lipbalm. Can’t wait to get to it 😉

    Prettybeautiful:
Hmm … all these talk about not having things available in M’sia is giving me an idea. Good one, although not cheap. I’ll reveal more when the time comes 😉

    Sesame:
I actually just bought the Raisin lip shimmer, and sadly didn’t like it ‘cos it’s far too dark for me. Drats.

    Indulgent Diva:
Nah, nothing beats Vaseline. That’s the HG of lip protectants, I tell you 😛 Burt’s Bees does a good job and tastes better, that’s all 🙂

I have tried Kiehl’s but i ended up buying the regular kiehls no. 1 lip balm and I stopped myself from spending on the tinted lip gloss…haaay I tried it on testers and I love it but i stopped myself from buying..and I want and Don’t want to read your Kiehl’s post..haha you know what I mean right? hahaha

A little bee told me that you will have to wait no longer… because it will be cioming soon to our shores by mid next year. =)

Burt’s Bees will be launching 20th April 2010 in Malaysia at The Curve. On 1st June opening in Gardens Mid Valley.

  15. Joanie

I went to the outlet at The Curve on the 1st week opening. I was browsing the items and one the salesgirl kept following me from behind as if I was a thief. I went there again last week and I noticed the salesgirl only attended to well-dressed customers.

  16. wifluvelle

the store at midvalley is sooooo hidden! next to coffee bean near the supermarket cold storage
if i wasn’t using the elevator at that side, i won’t have found it
and yes the SA was terrible and was not really trained to be informative of its products >.<

    xoxo elle

  17. Jamie

I’d bought one yesterday at Gardens, MV. Its fabulous! It’s just like you are wearing lipstick and I think it’s much more healthier as it only contains natural ingredients. Definitely will buy it again!!

  18. Kamilla

I love it! I love it! I love it! It’s perfect for the office quick retouch, ideal for morning 5 min make up, this particular color refreshes the look, can be worn in the summer evening or at a weekend brunch, and it’s mini size is great for carrying around in a clutch. Now I’m afraid it will be finished soon and or they will stop producing it …… OMG!!!!!!!
