Poll: Do You Use Eye Creams?

Do You Use An Eye CreamHappy Wednesday, ladies! How’s the week going for you so far? I just remembered that I haven’t done polls in a while. I thought that this might be a good time to do one, since it’s the middle of the week and I’m bored :p

My question for you today is: do you use eye creams?

This is actually quite a touchy subject to broach upon. There has been a lot of speculation as to whether we actually need eye creams. After all, when you really do look at the ingredients of eye creams, there really isn’t much (if not any) difference to moisturisers. With that in mind, eye creams are also packaged to much smaller quantities and sold at pretty much the same price as moisturisers. So do eye creams really work, or are they just another genius marketing ploy by cosmetic companies to make us think that we do need them after all?

To be honest, for me, they don’t work. I’ve yet to come across an eye cream that actually reduces the fine lines below my eyes, nor the massive eye bags. And I had to find out the expensive way by trying out different eye creams on the market to learn that there is no way of eliminating wrinkles and fine lines short of surgery. If there is, we’d all know of the miracle potion by now, and none of us would have any wrinkles!

For now, yes, I am still using eye creams, but that’s just to finish up the previous creams I bought. After they are finally finished, I won’t be purchasing another eye cream (unless I get them for free :P). Yes, certain eye creams do reduce the puffiness around the eyes, but this is just a temporary measure. Cold tea bags or even the back of a cold teaspoon gently pressed against closed eyes for a few minutes can do the trick.

This is not to say that you don’t keep the skin around those peepers properly hydrated. If the skin around your eyes is dry, then you’d definitely need to moisturise that area. Personally, I don’t think it’s necessary to have to purchase a special eye cream just keep the area well-moisturised though when your moisturiser should suffice. Although I wouldn’t recommend anything too rich and heavy around the eyes. Some people have claimed to have developed millia because of over-emollient eye creams.

These are just my opinions, of course. If you do use eye creams, and they worked for you, that’s great. It’s just too bad I’ve never seen any improvements on my fine lines and eye bags.

What do you think? Do you use eye creams? If you do, which eye cream did you use, and how has it helped you?

I use eye creams but not consistently, I do have days I am just too lazy so I skip it, I felt it does make a huge difference though , eyes doesn’t look too tired like before 🙂

I use eye cream, but hm… eye gel to be exact 😛

Avon’s pretty nice, light weighted and everything, and help made my skin around the eye area look better 🙂

But still, my dark circles are still there… though very much lighter than before 🙂

I didn’t start using eye creams until about 4 months ago. I do love my Vichy LiftactivPro eye cream I had a chance to try it from Glam and I love it.

I didn’t start using eye creams until I got a comment about my under-eye circles from one too many people! *oh the horror*…since then, I’ve been using Clinique’s All About Eyes…it’s good!

i hardly use eye cream. i’ve read somewhere that u can actually tab ur eyes with cotton wool in cold milk. as for fine lines, put a metal spoon in warm/hot water, then stretch it on ur skin. if u get what i mean. quite bad in explaining. not sure if it works though.

I use eye gels too! It’s true that you have to be consistent in applying the eye gel for maximum effect… cuz once i stop applying those nasty lines come back 🙁

i have huge eye bags too!!

I was writing something about this especially in relation to Puala Beugon’s comments that they’re no different from moisturizers. I haven’t finished that post. Maybe reading yours will give me some more inspiration.

But I believe in using them, or at least I think our eyes need taking care of. Although I don’t think they’ve given me great effects but my eyes would probably be worst off without them. Well…anyway I started using oils around my eyes so we’ll see.

I’m trying to use an eye cream but I can’t find one that works so the extra effort didn’t seem worth it. The only eye cream that ever worked was La Mer’s Eye Balm but it’s freaking RM530!! I tried the eye concentrate as well and it was supposed to be better than the eye balm and Rm100 more… but I was kinda sensitive to it.

I use eye gel, I recently found a nice one at you'll never believe this, Dollar Tree. It's nothing too super fancy, just a basic eye gel. But it works great! It comes in either a pot or tube formula. They feel smooth & cooling when going on. It makes your eye area look much nicer & feel more moisturized. I would strongly suggest it to anyone, it's comparable to a lot of big more expensive lines I've tried, but better yet it's beyond affordable for a buck!

I think it’s all about prevention for skincare… that’s why it’s good to start early. Once you get a wrinkle, it’ll be SUPER difficult to actually make it go away.

hehehe i haven’t bought any eye cream for ages. last one i bought was kiehl’s avocado that i promptly dumped into the bin. rubbish.

i use them twice a day only because it makes the eye area feel less tight. there’s not 1 that i’ve used that’s vowed me over so i’ve just stuck to using all the samples i’ve been given. among the ones i’ve tried i think kiehl’s cyste marine (SP?) and remede’s eyecream were my favs.
