Beautyholics Anonymous celebrates its 4th birthday this month. It’s amazing to think that this little project of mine which started off so small 4 years ago have grown so much since then. I completely underestimated the joy blogging has brought me. I had the pleasure and honour of meeting some of you dear readers and fellow bloggers, and the thought of sharing the same passion with another (and not having to worry about how shallow I would sound when I’m gushing about a new lipstick I bought!) is simply amazing.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, I would like to give away the following items to one lucky reader. This time, the giveaway prizes aren’t going to be massive like the previous years, but they are more of the items that I personally like and would love one lucky reader to have too. Poppy King was my first lipstick, I bought it at Aherns (old Perth department store) when I was 14. Twelve years later, it’s still my favourite lipstick and have not found a colour that matches it. I saw Poppy King at Myer Sydney in 2009, promoting her new range, and I was so star struck, my friend had to push me into her to say hi. I was just so awe struck to meet the woman that made my lips look so beautiful!
Anyways, happy 4 years!
P.S I’m trialling Macadamia Oil for my hair, and it’s awesome because it comes in a pump. And Jessie J is the new IT girl, just listen to ‘Nobody’s Perfect’.

Makeup was never a big deal for me until recently- I always thought it was just uncomfortable to wear. I started out with cheap things to try on colours and whatnot without spending too much, in case I didn’t like it… Turns out that I’m allergic to something in most cheap makeups I’ve tried, and that’s why it was so uncomfortable! Since delving into Shiseido and Lancome, I’m having fewer issues. Although, there is only ONE person I’ll probably buy eyeshadow from ever again- seriously, the stuff is better than MAC, and I never have eye problems (like itchyness and watering) from it. If you haven’t tried Shiro Cosmetics, by all means. One of my favourite shades of hers is Subrosia- a deep orangish red that deepens any red lipcolour I have, and it looks great when paired with browns and golds on the eyes. Mine stays on half the night without primer. Considering my oily skin, I’m surprised when anything makes it to an hour!

Happy 4th Birthday!! it’s blogs like yours that keep me sane in rural NZ. Hardly anywhere to shop for great makeup like NARS, Stila or other great brands, especially now that my city (Christchurch) is basically flattened! So I’d LOVE to win your prize and show off all the makeup to my cows, horses and chickens 🙂 When I lived in OZ, I bought a lippie from Poppy King’s very first collection – she was huge in the 1990s. I think it was a colour called Vanity. I love the way she’s made a come-back so would really like to read her book and learn her secrets to gutsy success. I’ve been a follower of this blog for the past few years, well, guess it started when I was checking for some products review to see whether it is as good as it says on the label. Honestly, there are not really a lot of them lying around, especially from Malaysia, or maybe, I was just not into their style:p No flattery intended here, nor to gain votes for the contest, this is a separate topic altogether. (I don’t even remember participating in most of the contests either, as I think every time I looked at it, it’s already past the due date…unlucky or coincidence, I really don’t know)
Anyway, really proud that we have such a lovely blogger amidst us Malaysian bloggers, along with Paris B..hehe, you girls can relate to us so much better, and yeah, it feels more close to home.
You may be out of Malaysia now, but hey you can take one girl out of Malaysia but you can’t take the Malaysian out of the girl (the popular saying) and you really do know how’s it like to live in the tropics and believe me when I say that the weather is getting worse these days.
So, (now my attempt to bid for the contest:), when you grow up in Malaysia and surviving the unpredictable and emotional weather, a girl definitely needs good make-up tools to endure the hot, humid and wet weather…where we all have the combination type of skin…sometimes we lose that shine when our skin is just dry, so that’s where the Coco Shine could probably come to rescue!
We may not really need bronzing powder, as we definitely have more than enough sun, but hey, there’s all these madness about looking all polished and having that amazing glow that everyone was raving about on Eva Longoria or better, Halle Berry (though it beats the purpose when I thought Asians prefer fairer skin, but I do admit too…hehe, that those sun-kissed glow looked amazing, and using the cheat sheet of products instead of real damaging sun sounds more appealing;)
Maybe due to the fact that most Asian girls still prefer the fairer skin, we end up losing the rosy cheeks and end up looking pale or even yellow (classic, due to the lack of sun exposure?) and seriously, some do look like vampires walking amidst us; trust me when I say I have seen one who looks so paper white that it freaked me out! I thought she had no blood and that she might faint any moment (or I might, if she showed me her fangs, LOL!) No offense, but really, we could do with some rosy cheeks…not too much though or we could end up looking like those Chinese paper dolls used for the offering for the dead:P
I don’t know about you, but I did notice that not a lot of Asian girls do take care of their brows (actually, that probably included meself), and I used to remember this cliche from Anna Paquin from She’s All That as she spoke to Rachael Leigh Cook…”When was the last time you tweezed? Did you watch Sesame Street? You know Bernie?” LOL, I know the importance of brow care..but it is a rather delicate procedure if you ask me, and tools, yeah, how many of us use a Brow Definition pencil anyway?
Oh, I am an avid writer and reader, and I could so totally scream in excitement at the next two items…as I am familiar with them; yeay, books and hand therapy from C&E!! What’s the relationship?
I love to read (Malaysians just don’t read enough and I am not part of the statistics, mind you!), and at the same time, I love all these beauty, fashion and girly stuffs…and don’t you ever wish you have more than enough dough to spend on a shopping spree…so, Poppy King becoming a millionaire from her search for a lipstick, oh my, it’s like a fantastic dream come true for us girls (shopaholics, beautyholics alike!) Now, don’t tell me you don’t wish to be like here?
While I write and write each day; updating my blogs, and staying in a/c room (you know why we need them) and with the ever-changing weather, I do seriously need hand rescue treatment and C&E, is one of my fave brands (I won them once from an annual dinner..a whole set of C&E products, not hinting anything:P )
I’ve tried Gardener’s range, this exact same treatment..and it’s quite good! Not that my hands have reached the stage where they resemble that of a gardener’s, thank God for that!
Alright, I have probably written a really long comment…but I am not fishing for victory..it is after all, by random selection right? It’s based on luck…hmmm, I wonder…I never did have much luck with contests…LOL:p

I am a newbie in makeup… although i have a huge stash of skincare products hehe~
I have a soft spot for skincare stuffs!!!!!
but recently, i found that how much make up can ‘level up’ my appearance!
I had been naive to think that make up is only for special occasions and is somewhat comparatively useless skincare! And reason that i ‘realized’ this?
I bought a mascara.
A common drugstore brand but wow! I did not expect i would look so much a difference with just mascara!!! The tired looking eyes really just disappear! ( I have in folding eyelids, and the fold is deep, hence with my small asian eyes, I have not tried any eye makeup before, thinking it wouldn’t work like what i get to see in blogs, advertisments and tv.)
Well, I cant describe the happiness and excitement I was feeling at that moment! I wanna shout and jump!
and I should really eat my own shoe for saying I would never pick up makeup!
How dumb I was!
Natural beauty is one thing, but to be able to look more beautiful!

I just started my makeup collection after I had my first baby. It is weird coz after I had her, it’s like I got a spell from the beauty fairy! I realized that paying attention to what you wear and how you look actually means taking good care of yourself and it is a great way to boost confident and it actually makes me happy. A way for me to lower down daily stress! Now I frequent beauty blogs and beauty counters and I am one happy hot momma! :p yeah right!
Btw, I came from MWS and a fan of ParisB reviews and writing! 😉
