A Beautiful Cream Blush That Is Illamasqua’s Dixie

I don’t normally use cream blushes because most of the ones I’ve tried are sticky and do not blend well. When I read on Twitter that a few beauty bloggers were raving about Illamasqua’s cream blushes, all I could think was “meh”. Still, I was curious as to what it was that they were loving about Illamasqua cream blushes, so I decided to check it out. I had a play with some of the cream blushes at the Illamasqua counter at Chadstone, and ended up getting one in Dixie.

Apologies for the unsightly spots. I’ve been a-stippling ๐Ÿ˜›

Illamasqua Cream Blush in Dixie Description

Dixie is a warm pink, and I think it’s really pretty on the cheeks. What I love about the blush is that it isn’t sticky or give me greasy-looking cheeks. It produces a beautiful, natural flush on the cheeks, which I love. Instead of using my fingers, I like to use a stippling brush to apply the cream blush (I use Sigma’s F50). The results are flawless only-achieved-in-winter rosy cheeks. I heart!

The downside to the Illamasqua’s cream blush is that it doesn’t stay on very long. In fact, it would only stay on my cheeks for a maximum of two hours before the colour would start to fade. I thought perhaps my cheeks isn’t dry enough for the blush to hold on to. However, LeGeeque, who has dry skin, experienced the same thing with her blush in Seduce.

A way to keep the cream blush on longer would be to sweep a light dusting of loose powder on the cheeks after application. This way, the blush would stay on for many more hours.

So, do I like it? Hell yes I do! If you’re unsure about cream blushes and would like to try one out, I highly recommend the ones by Illamasqua. The colours may look really bright and over-the-top at first sight, but with a light hand, you can easily build up the colour on the cheeks. I’m positive you would love it too!

I can’t wait to try out the others. I have my eye on Seduce ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do check out Lilpil’s review on the blush. She has also included the swatches for Rude and Seduce.

I have Seduce! You can borrow mine indefinitely when we meet on Saturday. I got no cooties ๐Ÿ˜€ And yes, I do love it. I should try stippling it too!

I have a whinge on this blush though. It does not last. AT ALL. And I have dry skin. The only way I can get it to last from 8am till 5pm is to layer powder blush over it. Which is a shame because on its own, it’s a beautiful colour.

LeGeeque: Hahahaha well then, money saved on makeup! ๐Ÿ˜› Yeah I know what you mean when it doesn’t last. The only way it could last for me is to dust a light layer of loose powder on it. If not, then it’ll slip off. Shucks.

this is such a pretty color. I was at one of the many sephoras by me about a month ago when Illamasqua just came to Sephora. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take a look at the blushes. This looks like such a gorg color for all year round.

Amy: Illamasqua’s different from most of the makeup brands I know. They’re the fastest growing makeup brand ever (according to Julian Kynaston, founder of Illamasqua), and their colours would shock you to your core. It’s different but it’s a whole lot of fun ๐Ÿ˜›

    Thanks !

Michelle: Unfortunately, I’ve chucked the box the blush came in. My bad for not snapping a picture of the ingredients first before throwing it out. Funny I did that because I almost always take pictures of ingredients first! :O

I’ll try to snap a picture of it at the Illamasqua counter if I can, and update this post. Will let you know ๐Ÿ™‚

You look beautiful with Dixie Tine as you are fairer than me… I prefer Seduce as it has the same effect on my wamer skin

    1. Tine

Lilpil: I was going to get Seduce because you ladies were raving about it on Twitter! The sales assistant showed me Dixie and I was sold ๐Ÿ˜›

Me my best and I: It’s so gorgeous, isn’t it? I’m not usually a fan of cream blushes but I find myself using this every single day. It’s awesome stuff.

  10. Samantha Lee

Hi, can I know how similar is this to Illamasqua Hussy powder blush?

    1. Tine

Samantha: Hussy’s more pink (blue-based) whereas the Dixie’s coral (orange-based). Hope that helps ๐Ÿ™‚
