Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Ultra Firm and Lift Cream

Guest post by LeGeeque

Something very interesting about Jurlique is that a lot of its ingredients are sourced right from its backyard in the pretty little state down south of South Australia. A huge plus to this fact is that you’re buying something that’s made and sourced locally right here in Australia.

Jurlique Purely Age Defying Ultra Firm and Lift Cream

Scent: A very pleasant lavender scent which has calming properties and is one of my favourite scents to have around.

Jurlique Purely Age Defying Ultra Firm and Lift Cream Ingredients

I’ve been using this consistently as a night cream every night for the past few weeks (alternating between this and a few of my other night creams because it’s just more fun that way) and I always find myself returning to this. This cream is wonderfully moisturising for my dry skin exacerbated by the full on heating I subject my skin to this winter. I wake up every morning and tap my skin to be rewarded by the toing-toing sensation of soft, smooth and supple skin. Another plus to this is that I also love that it’s housed in a heavy-set jar which adds a touch of luxe.

With the variety of night creams I have on rotation, this has managed to sneakily find its way to one of my top-notch night creams. One more thing going in the favour of Jurlique is that it’s SO easily-available. I’ve seen quite a few counters in various Myers. They have stand alone stores as well and I’ve also noticed that certain pharmacies stock them.

Final question to be asked: Would I repurchase? Maybe. The only deterrent to this is its price. Recommended retail states that it goes for AU$90 which puts it on the high end departmental store range of night creams. As sneaky as it is to wind its way into my hardened-against-expensive-skincare-heart, I might just have to pass on this.

As hard as it is for me to part with AU$90 for a tub of night cream, I do understand the high cost for this. The ingredients are sourced in Australia. This product is made in Australia and we all know labour in Australia is not exactly the cheapest in the world.

Having said that, it DOES give me a good feeling that I’m not just buying any good ol’ Aussie product. I’m buying a REALLY GOOD Aussie product to do my bit for buying Aussie.

Just to put things into perspective, I always have trouble sleeping, I hold a relatively high-stress level job which puts me on the run, I tend to consume more than my fair share of alcohol and caffeine and I don’t necessarily exercise enough to deserve good skin. All this seem to be the perfect recipe for crap skin. And yet, my skin is relatively line-free and free of blemishes and dark spots.

I know I’m really running on borrowed time each time I get compliments on my skin because I know I won’t have this for forever. Hopefully this little jar will keep those pesky fine lines at bay for yet another 10 (or 50 if you can please) years.

Jurlique Purely Age Defying Ultra Firm and Lift Cream retails at AU$90 for 50ml and is available at all Jurlique counters, concept stores and selected pharmacies and shops nationwide.

What I like about it: Does what it claims. Gives me soft, supple and smooth skin despite the dry winter we’re currently going through. Love the delicate lavender scent. Love the packaging of a heavy jar. Very easily-available.

What I do not like about it: Pricey

I love the packaging very much!
But I would still think twice for its price =(

Stephy: Yeah I know what you mean. It’s a stumbling point because Jurlique does have some amazing products, which sadly, not everyone can afford 🙁

I thought if you bought products in its original country, it would be much cheaper. But it seems I’m wrong.

By the way, I think your skin is incredible even without make-up (saw your laser treatment photos 🙂 ), you can confidently pass Jurlique and feel comfortable using other products that are more affordable 🙂

Nope, unfortunately for Australia, most Aussie brands are cheaper overseas than it is in Australia. Jurlique is slightly cheaper in the US, Bloom too. Becca, which is an Australian makeup brand, is twice the price here than it is in the US. We’ve been incredibly frustrated about this, but things are still the same.

It is a lovely product but I, too, will think twice before spending $90 on it – though what I find with it is that it does last a long time, it’s been well over a month and I haven’t even gone through a quarter of it. I could feel the slight pull of its lifting properties but it’s still not drying. Thankfully I’ve not had breakouts from it as well.

Blushfully: It’s a pity Jurlique products are so expensive because then it deters people from trying it out and realising how good their products are.
Good to know it’s working for you 🙂

For those baulking at the price may I suggest looking up Trilogy’s Replenishing Night Cream as a more budget-friendly alternative. I don’t use it personally as it is not suited to my skin type (I use their Very Gentle Moisturising Cream) but I did a quick comparison of the ingredients and they appear to be a similar quality and it is australian-owned.

Sara: I’ll check out the ingredients to the Trilogy Replenishing Night cream when I head to Priceline next. Thanks for the heads up! 🙂
