What Would You Do #4: It's Snowing! (And Not The Good Kind)

Hello folks! Hope you’re having a good weekend so far. I’ll be doing the Million Paws Walk by RSPCA today with LeGeeque and my godfurkid, Coco, so if you’re there too, do give me a shoutout on Twitter or Facebook 🙂

Anyway, welcome to the 4th episode of What Would You Do! Each time I encountered a difficult scenario, I quickly wrote it down so that I can ask you what you would do in a similar situation. Today’s scenario is about snow and it’s not the kind you can make snow angels in. 😛

Today’s Scenario:

What Would You Do #4: It's Snowing! (And Not The Good Kind)

© Baker Design Studio

You’re on a crowded train and someone is sitting next to you. This person has the worst case of dandruff you’ve ever seen. Problem is, she’s not just snowing on own her clothes; as the train jerks, the snow’s falling on you! There’s nowhere else to sit.

What would you do?

A. Keep moving to the edge of your seat to avoid the dandruff falling on your clothes (it ends up on the train seat instead).
B. Tell the person she’s snowing on your dark clothes and if she could please just stop.
C. Stand up and move away from your seat. Even if you have to stand, you’re not getting any dandruff on you.
D. None of the above. Your choice. What would YOU do?

My answer:

I haven’t experienced this but I’ve seen this happen on a train once. Two men were sitting together in front of me. They didn’t know each other and one of them was fast asleep. The lulling on the train must have put him in quite a deep sleep because every time the train jerked, he didn’t even wake up. It was obvious he had a bad case of dandruff because his coat shoulders were full of white flakes.

Now the poor fellow sitting next to him kept edging in his seat because the other guy’s head drooped to the side and almost touched his shoulders. Each time he drooped lower, it snowed dandruff on the other guy. It was quite hilarious watching his exasperated face as he tried to inch away from the “snow”. He tsk-tsk-ed the entire journey!

If I were guy “snowed under”, I’d get up and move away. Even if I have to stand all the way to my stop, I’d rather do that than be so uncomfortable trying to keep my seat and not get someone else’s dead skin cells on me. 😛

What about you? What would you do?

Oh god… This almost happened to me the other day. I was waiting in the queue for a flight back to London and the girl in front of me – Australian, btw, I heard her talk – had THE WORST dandruff. I thought it was glitter but no…

Sorry so to answer the question, I’d probably just move away and live tweet the whole thing. Hahahha.

I had that too, many times! Stinko passengers on the train and bus. I rely heavily on public transportation so during rush hour, I usually have no choice but to endure the stinkiness 30 mins of the trip because it’s difficult to even move >.<

Interesting scenario .I would go for C .I will stand up and move away from my seat .Something similar has happened to me few times when people who smell REALLY BAD were standing or sitting next to me so to avoid it I just left my seat and prefer to stand up

I don’t know which one is worse. Having someone “snow” on your or having to sit next to someone who stinks real bad. *shudder*

Option C please 🙂 I did have a similar experience before, not with a total stranger but with someone close to me. Her hair was super long and when we hugged, took pictures together and/or just sit closer, I’d get some of the flakes on my clothes. Luckily, that person is a close friend of mine so I did put it out tactfully, and THANK GOD she got the hint. She cut her hair short, went for some scalp treatments and she got it under control!

Hahahaha good one! I’m glad your friend got the hint and fixed the problem. It’s better for her anyway 🙂

I just cringed. >.>;; I’d really prefer to stand. C.

Yeah, better to stand than to be “snowed” on with dead skin 😛

This is a tricky one! I think I would go for C…

Having said all this, as someone with psoriasis – despite taking a lot of effort to keep the condition under control – such a thing may not be dandruff but in fact psoriasis. It can be a really embarrassing condition to live with; during flare ups I’m particularly self conscious! (Luckily it’s not that often these days.)

I think though the key thing in this case is the person MUST know they have the problem and doesn’t seem to be trying to look after it! So whilst I can empathise I would not be comfortable getting it on me!

Good one, Sarah, thank you for sharing! To be honest, I often don’t know if people know they have a dandruff problem or not. In fact, I denied it for a long time before I literally started “snowing” on my desk! I happened to be on my desk and was brushing my hair when white bits started to fall off my head! I thought it was dust but everytime I gently smack the top of my head, more falls out. It was then that I had to admit I had a problem and needed to fix it.

But it’s good to know that your flare-ups are getting less these days. Fingers crossed you’ll recover from it soon! 🙂 x

LOL you may be right Tine! 🙂

        Thank you; I hope so!

  7. Issa

I would definitely get up and move away…. I’d rather stand up the whole journey than get the bad case of dandruff

    1. Tine

Haha yeah, not nice to get dead skin on you 😛

  8. Karen C

    I’m a C!
Would definitely move away, even if it meant standing the whole trip – sorry, but dandruff is one of those things that grosses me out!

    1. Tine

Me too! Having someone snow dead skin cells on us … *shudder*
