Okay, that was supposed to be front-of-house, but I thought it’s easier to understand if it was, er, front-of-blog. No? Oh, I’m sure you know what I mean. π
I’ve been making a couple of sneaky lil’ changes and additions to the blog lately, so I thought I’d share with you what they are.
Upgraded Mobile Theme
After closely monitoring my web stats on Google Analytics (bordering on obsession, I tell ya. Yep, the obsession is Β back), I realised that the second highest most used screen resolution when viewing Beautyholics Anonymous is 320×480 pixels. This means a lot of readers have been viewing my blog on their phone. I’ve been using the WP Touch plugin for mobile viewing for a couple of years now and while it’s sufficient for reading, I don’t think it looks good enough. Plus, I had a lot of issues with the compatibility of this plugin with another caching plugin … all in all, it’s been one big ol’ mess at the back-of-blog.
So, with lots of Googling and checking for the best ways to troubleshoot the problem, I tweaked the caching plugin the best I could and also decided to upgrade the WP Touch plugin for better mobile viewing. If I lost you for a while there with plugin talk, whoops, sorry! π In short, the blog looks better for viewing on your mobile phone now. Fonts are bigger, which makes it easier to read (I like big fonts and I cannot lie). Sharing of social links like Facebook, Twitter, etc is also easier too. It loads quicker than the previous theme with no fiddly lagging. All for your mobile viewing pleasure. π

After contemplating this for so long, I’ve finally decided to add a Hire Me page on the blog. No, it’s not about hiring me for my writing (although if you would like to, I’d be honoured!). For the past 4 years, I’ve been helping friends with their blog’s technical issues e.g. transferring a domain to a webhost (say, www.example.com to Hostgator), installation of WordPress, transferring existing blog content from Blogger to WordPress and so on. I thought it’s high time I open my services to you too.

Speaking of shenanigans, I was at the RSPCA Million Paws Walk yesterday and it truly was one of the best days I’ve had in a while. Walking 5km with hundreds of dogs, playing with my godfurkid Coco (and getting slobbered by her numerous times) and enjoying the company of other dogs too was heaps of fun. I can’t wait to do it again next year. Hopefully, I’ll have a dog of my own to walk with too!

Yay good on you! Hopefully it won’t muck up your website. It didn’t make mine go nuts but it did conflict with my caching plugin for a long time (that’s why so many of you have been seeing the mobile theme on desktops!). I’ve done a lot of tweaking so hopefully that will work this time. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you π
