Who Owns What?

Proctor and Gamble Johnson Estee Lauder Loreal

Do you know that …

Estee Lauder owns Aramis, Aveda, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Bumble & Bumble, Darphin, Prescriptives, M.A.C., Jo Malone, Origins, Ojon, American Beauty, Flirt, Good Skin and Creme de la Mer.

L’oreal owns Maybelline, Lancome, Helena Rubinstein, BioMedic, Vichy, Biotherm, La Roche Posay, Redken, Skinceuticals, Garnier, Keratase, Kiehl’s, Shu Uemura and Giorgio Armani.

Proctor & Gamble owns Cover Girl, Max Factor, Olay, Clairol, Ivory, Noxzema, Pantene and SK-II.

Johnson & Johnson owns Neutrogena, Aveeno, Clean & Clear, RoC and Lubriderm.

Interesting, eh? Makes you wonder why there’s such a huge difference in prices when it comes to the high-end and drugstore brands owned by the same company. It’s marketing, people. Really good and expensive marketing.

I worked in an Executive Search firm and I learned about those the hard way! I got surprised most of the times, great of you for sharing this!

great info! since I circulate the beauty industry I’ve worked for some of the brands. and Gio (beautifulwithbrains) had a post about this too. I’m not sure if it’s the same internationally but RMK, La Prairie, Stila, YSL and some others are under Lux. And Dior is under LVMH. Makeup Forever, Guerlain and Benefit too under LVH last time but I’m not sure about now. Clarins and Loccitane under the same company.

Whee! Yeap I knew about some of it 🙂 But honestly I’d me more interested in EL, and the companies Connie above me had to share 😀

  4. The Home Spa Goddess

This is great! Thanks:) I’m gonna post this by my computer.

You’re right, it is amazing how prices can vary although the product it is exactly the same!

Please beware when buying from Strawberrynet.com I bought a lipstick at £21. I had to collect if from RM and pay £11.15! When I complianed to Strawberry they said they woudl refund. They still havent done this!!

Did you know that Burt’s Bees is owned by Clorox? Natural skin care made by a chemical company? Not cool.

Beware Questionable genuineness of Strawberry.net’s Cosmedix products – I bought and used a product I know well and it was not the ‘real thing’. Strawberry.net is a large Asian cosmetics supplier, owned by Sa Sa International Holdings. They refunded and claimed Asian products sometimes different … Cosmedix did not respond to my query on this, but if it is so, why not say that on the website. Leaves one to wonder which products, and how different they are. I would not use Strawberry.net again.

I’ve just been reading all the comments, all very interesting.

The one that stopped me in my tracks – gemma’s: ‘they all test on animals. sick people’ Thank you gemma, am now looking for alternative skin care ranges

      Hello all;
Yes this info can be shocking leaving us insecure about ourloved cosmetics! Listen though I’ve worked in cosmetics for may years and ill say all of the technology and pepitideds are not the same! If you pay 9.99 for a face cream its not the same as the 209.99 cream! The same fragerance may be used but not the same rose oil…..The bottom line is this Cosmetics makes us happy but living well and eating well helps us to look happy because there are NO quick solutions to anything and we can not get upset because crafty marketing tools have a way of appealing to our needs or fears! We are all going to get old cosmetics allow us to enjoy the ride a little more!

wow… interesting… didn’t realise so many were under the same umbrella. or burts bees were owned by a chemical co

  14. VisionSeer

Some of the natural companies were once legit, but sold out. For example, Burt’s Bees was not always owned by Clorox. They sold out in recent years. So, you make-up experts: what brand do you recommend I try? I do not know which way to go now.
