Christmas Lemmings (Amongst Other Things)

So the in-laws were in town for a visit the past couple of weeks, hence the absence on the blogfront. They left a couple of days ago, so freedom! :p

So, did any of my US readers go for the kill on Sephora’s Friends and Family 2008 discount? I wanted to get some items from Sephora, and since my aunt would be going back to Malaysia for Christmas, I thought I could purchase them online and get ’em sent to her house in San Jose. The 20% discount was fantastic and would save me a pretty penny on makeup items to stock up upon, e.g. my usual loose powder, etc.

I was just about to pay for the stuff, when towards the end, I realised that I couldn’t pay with an Australian credit card! It had to be an American credit card. I didn’t want to get my aunt to pay first, thus with a heavy heart, I had to close the page and let the items go.

Sigh.

Christmas is coming, and a lot of shops are selling a lot of gift packs and stuff just for the holiday. Plus early Christmas sales are on, so I’m stocking up on gifts to bring back to Malaysia in January. It’s amazing how with the downturn in the economy and all, that people are actually spending more on makeup! David Jones and Myer are always filled with people buying this and that, and coming out with loads of shopping bags. What happened to saving for rainy days?

Although, I’d have to say, it IS hard. Saving money, that is. Not when there are so many Christmas goodies around. In the process of getting stuff for my mum, gifts for family and friends, I kept salivating at the beautiful holiday makeup collection every brand is coming up with. In particular, Guerlain’s Midnight Butterfly collection.

I saw this at Myer, and oh. My. Gawd. Talk about gorgeous! I stood there looking at the makeup like a little girl who’s just discovered her first Barbie Doll (or whatever rocks your boat). I want. I need.

Sigh.

While we’re on the subject, another Christmas lemming would be the Chloe Paddington bag, which I’ve wanted for 6 years now, but never had the heart to part with my money for it. Sure there are knock-offs, but still …

And oldie, but a goodie :p

I gotta get down and see the Guerlain collection in person. Hopefully steal some pics too 😉 I’ve seen the Chloe Paddington – can you say ton of bricks? That lock alone weighs more than the bag. If you get it, Tim will have to give you backrubs every time you use it… come to think of it, not a bad idea eh? 😉

Have a look at the Guerlain palette, I did in the city the other day. Pretty as it was, it’s very sheer. I was very disappointed because, I, err, thought of buying it 😛

Chloe Paddington: GORGEOUS! When I was in Changi recently, I had a feel of the bag. Apparently they’d redesigned the lock so that it’s not as heavy. What I did was, I err, stuffed the entire contents of my bag into the Paddington, slung it over my shoulder and found it still very carry-able. Maybe this Chloe has the redesigned lock? Yeah, I did that and didn’t buy the bag even though the leather was buttery soft. Thankfully, the sales girl was very nice and totally understand that one needs to seriously think hard before one plonks down SGD1.6k 😛
