Review: Lipstick Queen Medieval Tinted Treatment

I’ll let you in on a secret. When I was in secondary school, and makeup was absolutely forbidden to be worn to school (except for Teacher’s Day and Speech Day), when I wanted my lips to look red and pouty (just so I didn’t look completely washed out), I’d bite them. Not hard, of course; I’d run my teeth inwards and outwards on the top and bottom lip. This causes the capillaries to swell to the surface, thus giving the lips a temporary plumping effect and a hint of redness.

Stupid, right? I wasn’t kidding; I actually did that in school. In an ALL-GIRL’S school. And it worked!

Thank goodness for all sorts of lipsticks, lipgloss and lip tints now, eh?

I first saw the Medieval when I was at Kit Cosmetics (Myer, Bourke St) with Syen. After trying on the lipstick, I knew I had to get it.

Description:

Medieval is a sumptous lip conditioner made with softening Vitamin E and tinted with a universal, cherry red shade to suit all skin tones. Taking inspiration from Medieval times when women used lemons to stimulate the lips to create a blood red stain, this lip stain is ultra-sheer and totally flattering.

Dang, that’s really red, isn’t it?

This is meant to be a lip tint than a lipstick, so rest assured that the colour is actually pretty sheer, despite how red it looks. However, the shade is also very buildable, so if you want redder lips, just apply more layers. If you simply want a hint of colour, a swipe of the lip tint will do.

The one thing I really like about the Medieval is that it glides very smoothly on the lips, and keeps them moisturised. You know lipsticks which are hard, matte and leaves the lips looking a tad dry? This is the complete opposite. It glides on the lips very easily. In fact, I did not even need to apply lipbalm prior to this (I normally do, with lip gloss and lipsticks).

It does not contain any gloss or shimmer, so if you want that pop of colour, just apply some gloss at the middle of the lips. Voila! Sexy red tint 😉

Lipstick Queen lippies are available at Kit Cosmetics, Myer, or the standalone store at Chapel Street. The Medieval Tinted Treatment is priced at AU$33.95. I highly recommend checking out the store at Chapel St, as the sales assistants there are really friendly and helpful. Do check out other Lipstick Queen lipsticks too. They’re simply gorgeous. I mean, from the lipstick queen herself, Poppy King, you know you can’t go wrong with her lippies.

What I like about it: Beautiful hint of red and glides very smoothly on the lips

What I do not like about it: Nothing
