Question: What’s Your Favourite Body Moisturiser?

by Tine on July 1, 2009

Happy Wednesday, ladies!

My question for today is a simple one – what’s your favourite body moisturiser?

20090701 Body Lotion 1

I’ve got way too many body moisturisers to begin with. Tubs of barely used body butters, bottles of body lotions and creams – seriously, if I were to stop buying body moisturisers, it would take at least two years before my current supply depletes. Everytime I’m at Priceline or Myer/David Jones, I’m tempted with different types of lotions and potions.

No wonder the husband thinks that these places are evil ;)

Of all the body moisturisers I’ve tried, there were a couple which I repurchased due to actual supply depletion – The Body Shop’s African Spa cocoa butter (the range has been renamed to Spa Wisdom Africa Spa) and St Ives Whipped Silk Advanced Body Moisturiser. I used the former when I was in the UK and Japan. I remembered using Johnson’s Baby Lotion religiously, trying to get rid of the increasingly-peely dry skin and rashes from my body due to the very low humidity, but to no avail. In the end, my mum handed me a tub of the African Spa cocoa butter and advised me to use it. To be honest, I don’t like the smell of cocoa butter (I still don’t), and I really disliked using it. However, after a week, the rashes disappeared and the dry peels healed. I don’t know why but it never occurred to me to get another version of body butter; I just kept using that smelly ol’ African Spa for years :P

Golly, I went on and on there and I didn’t even mention my favourite body moisturiser!

It was by chance that I stumbled upon St Ives’ Whipped Silk. A small tube of it came free with a bottle of shampoo I purchased, and the moment I slathered it onto my skin, I was hooked. I simply adored the scent (not overpowering) and how light and non-greasy it was. This worked very well in Malaysia and during Australian summers, but it’s not moisturising enough for winter use. So I save this for hot seasons, and go back to my thick rich body creams come winter. This way, I have an, erm, excuse to shop for summer and winter body creams. Schneaky :P

So that’s my story. What’s yours? What’s your favourite body moisturiser? Do you use different ones for the day and night? I want to know of the body lotions and creams you love. Y’know, just in case I want to get a new one *winketty wink*.

Growing up I swear by body moisturizers mostly lotion/cream from these brands – Nivea, St. Ives, Body Shop.

Now, I’d appreciated body oil during winter. I rotate between these:

1) Elemis – Exotic Frangipani Manoi Moisturer Melt
2) Elemis – Cellutox
3) Trilogy – Aromatic Body Oil
4) Aesop – All’s Well

I know it sounds crazy but I go crazy with body products and usually finishes them pretty quick. Lately, I’ve been trying some organic body cream and they are awesome too!

sorbolene! cheap, good and unscented! Just need to get the good kind, some cheapo kinds just sit on top of your skin instead of getting absorbed. otherwise, nivea is really good as well.

Hehe… I’ve always used vasaline because I’m still under 18 & my parents pay for everything. I’ve tried aveeno ones or twice & my friend did get me a bottle of body works vanilla lotion but vasaline is still the best for me just because I’m too lazy to put on lotion everyday & vasaline works miracles for my skin.

gah! I typed out a comment then my net went bonkers. >.<

anyway, I'm crazy about La Mer Body Cream. I don't own it but just using it 5 times a month is enough to keep my hands silky soft (I'm so modest, aren't I?) Lol! i'm just waiting for the day that I can afford to have my own without starving for 2 months

I’m a huge fan of Kiehl’s Creme de Corps and the Mango Body Butter from The Body Shop. They’re both really rich, but I think that’s exactly what you need if you sleep in an air-conditioned room.

An all-time favourite is Nivea’s Moisturising Lotion!

Oh man, I don’t have a favorite body LOTION, but I absolutely adore L’Occitane’s Grape Beauty Body Oil. It is fantabulously moisturizing and not greasy at all. And it smells absolutely divine.

I love the body butters from the body shop. Th skin of my body is very dry and they are the only creams that keep it moisturized for the entire day. I’m using the coconut one at the moment, it smells gorgeous!

oh i loved Dove Body Silk! it was the first moisturizer i got in preparation for my stay in Perth (bought it at king of parallel importers in singapore, mustafa shopping centre!). it absorbs very quickly and leaves skin feeling like silk. might not be sufficient for use during winter if you prefer heavier body butters.

I use uber-ciplak sorbolene from the supermarket. Less than AUD 4 for 600 ml and it lasts me for about 5 months. i just need to use a lil’ more during winter. Nivea’s Q10 body cream works a treat too.

I haven’t heard someone recommend St. Ives in a looooong time! ;) Personally, I think olive oil is best for dry skin. Straight outta the bottle.

Right now I’m on J&J’s Extra Moisture Lotion. Don’t particularly like it though coz the scent is a bit too strong! Finished St Ives a couple of weeks ago..that was good! I use the same body moisturizer day and night for all over the body, but I keep my MOR Jasmine Tea body butter on my bedside to lotion up if my skin gets dry at night. :)
Vaseline is also another range that’s a favourite of mine!

Avon’s Moisture Therapy A*C*E. It’s an inexpensive all-over moisturizer with the benefits of added vitamins. It’s lightweight and non-greasy.
