What Do You Do With Unsuitable Skincare Products?

There are times when I would stumble upon beauty products that do not suit my skin type. Some would be given to me, some I stupidly purchased despite knowing it might not work, some I didn’t know wouldn’t work. These products would often break me out, or cause my skin to produce my sebum especially on the T-zone.

If the products come in jars, there’s no point in giving them away because I would have used my fingers to dig into the cream. Rather than leaving them to expire, I use them on my body.

Too rich for my face. It’s now going on my arms and legs.

I’ve used face creams, eye creams, serums, facial sunscreen, etc on my body. Why waste good products, eh? The ones which are barely used, that come in tubes and bottles, I would give them away to friends if they would like them.

What about you? Do you use unsuitable skincare products on your body? Or do you give them away?

Yep yep same! I tend to use them on my poorly neglected legs >_O

Definitely goes straight to my body. On average I finish 2-3 full sized products a week. Pretty impressive huh?

Erm… the fact I’m Mom and Sis’s pharmacy probably says it all 😉 If its barely used in a jar, I’d pass it to them, but not to friends. Friends get stuff that come in tubes or bottles as you say. I must remember to use some of the products on my body. Saves on body lotion too wot? 😀

I banish them to a corner and sneer at them…
Or I give them away to friends and family

Use lavishly on my body or give them away to family members. There’s a reason why my younger cousins love seeing me — I doubt that their affection is wholly due to familial affection.

Same goes for makeup. I stick everything in a box and invite my cousins (and their girlfriends) who are out of highschool to take their pick. If they are still in high school, I only allow them to pick lipglosses. Unfortunately, that has resulted in quite a bit of sulking amongst the cousins who aren’t around for the makeup lottery. I candidly pointed out to them that they are working now and could buy their own makeup instead of sponging off me.

I try to palm them off to my boyfriend 1st, who sneers & whines about his sensitive skin & NOT being my guinea pig, at which point I’m left to eventually getting around to using them somehow. Sometimes on body, or as hand lotion around the house…..I specifically try to use stuff on my neck & chest area, but I end up with breakouts on my skin – which is just rank in those areas – sigh.
Unsure how else to use these products up!

I’m the same Tine – to my legs and arms it goes as those areas are not as sensitised as my face.

If it might work for someone, I might palm it off to them especially if I was hygienic with its use. Waste not, want not 🙂

Same here. If the product is thick, I normally use them on my super dry hands & feet.

I’d love to give unsuitable products to family members but mostly they go onto my arms and legs because we don’t live in the same country anymore. But if it’s something like foundation or lipstick, I tend to keep them for a few years and then I will junk them because not only have my fingers/lips/skin touched them, they’d get too old and gross to be given away. Terrible, I know!

I give them away to family and friends but if no one wants them I’ll use them on my body.

I return them to the store when possible. I use a q-tip to dig out face creams that come in a jar to keep the germs out.

This is a brilliant idea. I have some night cream I don’t really like but don’t want to toss out…surely it will be a nice hand cream or something. ;p Thanks for the idea! I try not to throw something out unless I simply cannot stand it at all.
