The Jojoba Company Intense Overnight Renewal Creme

There are times when I get sent product which are meant for dry skin, which would not work for me as I have oily/combination skin. Thus, I have enlisted the help of LeGeeque to review such products as she has dry skin.

Today, she will be reviewing The Jojoba Company’s Intense Overnight Renewal Creme. These are her words, but I have edited the headings to fit into the theme of the blog reviews.

The Jojoba Company Intense Overnight Renewal Creme

It happened one day when I was pawing through Tine’s stash of makeup and skin care. Now, that’s another post altogether on how gobsmacked I was when I was feasting my eyes on her precious collection.

My eye fell onto this tub of night cream and I got curious. I’ve never heard of the Jojoba Company before and because it claims to be all-natural, it piqued my curiosity a little bit more. I was running low on my usual night cream and because Tine and I are at the stage of friendship where we’ve done away with all the hak-hei-ness (Tine: Cantonese for standing in ceremony, I think) in life, I unabashedly, thick-skinnedly asked to bring the tub home with me! 😀

Description:
97% natural. With marine collagen and C0Q10 to encourage overnight skin renewal. A restorative, luxurious creme to rebuild firming natural collagen and plump, nourish and deeply hydrate the skin. Rich in pure botanicals such as marine collagen, wild yam to retain moisture, horsetail extract to nurture connective tissues and collagen production, shea butter, green tea, cocoa butter and beta glucan to actively decrease the width and depth of wrinkles. Not tested on animals.

Texture: Creme
Colour: Pale yellow
Scent: An indiscernible all natural scent. Not unpleasant and dissipates upon application. It does not bother me at all.

So, to cut to the chase: Do I like it? I’d say meh. I don’t like it. I don’t dislike it. It’s not moisturizing enough for my dry skin and especially in the harsh Melbourne winter where I subject my skin to hot showers and heaters almost 24/7.

Rather than a pea-sized amount I use for most moisturizers, I used a generous dollop and applied that all over my face and neck. It absorbs easily enough and does not leave my skin sticky but my skin still feels a little dehydrated (I know, I can give up my a-glass-of-wine-a-night but life is not worth living without winding down to my favourite Shiraz and a small square of dark chocolate). I drink more than the pre-requisite 8 glasses of water in a day so there’s really not much I can do with hydrating myself more.

Would I purchase this? Probably not. I’m sticking to what I know works for me in the future. However, this would definitely be too thick for someone with combination skin. If you have dry skin and live in the tropics, it just might work.

The Jojoba Company Intense Overnight Renewal Creme retails at AU$59.95 for 50ml, which is a little on the high end but not unexpected for a natural skincare product. This is available on the website and selected health stores (click for stockists).

What I like about it: Good texture of cream.

What I do not like about it: It’s not thick enough to moisturize my dry skin.

I love natural products! But I would just buy that for the packaging alone, it’s too cute!

Rin: The Jojoba Company boxes these products are packaged in are probably the cutest I’ve seen of all the beauty products I’ve tried 😛

I have just started using a brand called Protectole and it is quickly absorbed, smells great and is great on a combination skin and it is all under $20.00 you should try that one. cheers Jill
