Tom Ford Private Blend Lip Color in True Coral Oozes Sex Appeal

Today, I bring you a lipstick that is so hot, so luxurious and incredibly sexy, it will make you look at Chanel and go meh. I kid you not.

Why, hello Tom Ford’s Private Blend Lip Color in True Coral. You really know how to set a girl’s heart a-flutter.

Look at the packaging. It screams sex appeal and the gorgeousness of Tom Ford, does it not?

It took a lot of effort to even begin using the lipstick because I couldn’t bear to mar the TF mark. Sigh.

True Coral is a beautiful, bright shade of orangey-coral. It’s highly-pigmented and oh-so-creamy. You can have layers of this on and not feel it weighing your lips down. Upon application, I tend to blot 2-3 times before I apply the final layer, just to keep it on for many hours. Apart from drinking and eating, this will hang on to your lips like glue. As such, it does stain a smidgen, and would need a good makeup remover to properly remove all of it.

The only lipstick I’ve encountered that needs TWO sides of an ingredients list!

I can’t seem to get the lighting right for the close-up lips shot, so I’m afraid this isn’t that accurate a shade. It’s a lot brighter in real life. Do check out Jacie’s review on the True Coral; she managed to get a snapshot of the shade on her lips just right. It really is that bright.

This is not a cheap lipstick. At AU$65 a pop, it’s even more expensive than a Chanel lippie (which is AU$50). But if you’re looking to treat yourself something luxurious, I highly recommend a Tom Ford lippie.

Note: This product was provided for consideration. This does not alter the fact that I still want to go to bed with it.

Update: I did not realise this from the ingredients earlier, but this Tom Ford lipstick contains triticum vulgare (wheat) germ extract and hordeum vulgare (barley) extract. This might be a concern for those who suffer from gluten intolerance. It might not be strong enough to cause a reaction, but please be aware of this. Many thanks to Zuzu’s Petals for the heads up.

Omg Tine it looks stunning on your lips! I have heard great things about Tom Ford lipsticks but the price, eeks!

    1. Tine

Renee: Aww thanks love. You have to at least check it out. Seriously, it will make you look at Chanel lippies and go pfft (what blasphemy, but I believe Mr Tom Ford got a leg up Chanel this time :P).

      1. Tine

OMG I meant a leg up OVER Chanel. A leg up Chanel. How dirty πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

Ksuan: BAHAHAHAHA holy smokes batman! I haven’t heard that phrase in a while now πŸ˜› This shade is so hot, you need sunnies πŸ˜‰

  5. Nadia

Looks great on you, Tine! I love True Coral too!! It’s quite a wearable shade, I think, despite it being super bright. LOL! I’m lemming for my next TF, but that $65 price tag is a bit of a dampener.

    1. Tine

Nadia: I agree, it is a wearable shade despite the bright colour. It’s funny, not long ago, I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing such bright colours, but now I can’t stop. Funny how makeup can evolve a person πŸ™‚

  6. Sara

That shade looks absolutely brilliant on you Tine! I once read somewhere that putting on this lipstick is just like making out with Tom Ford – a girl can dream, right…

      Sara: Shh I’m dreaming now…..mmmmmmmmmmmmmm….

Issa: Yeah the price does sting. It’s one of those luxurious treats we give ourselves once in a while πŸ™‚

Gio: Sigh, I know, right? I was *this* close to buying it, but am thankful to be given one for review. I would have gotten it myself, this colour at least. I was surprised Tom Ford lipsticks are more expensive than brands like Dior and Chanel. Hmmm…

Beautiful! I just received my first two TF colors, but why WHY WHY did I read the ingredients list you so kindly posted? They are full of gluten. I wish I had remained blissfully ignorant–maybe my body won’t even notice.

Zuzu’s Petals: Hahaha. When I started photographing the lipstick, I snapped one side of the ingredients, not knowing there was more! Either the words are big and it needs two sides, or it’s the lipstick with the most number of ingredients I’ve ever used.
I’m not aware of the gluten, just the amount of colours there were. I’ll Google the gluten now πŸ™‚

  10. Zuzu's Petals

Hi Tine, I can save ou the bother. It’s triticum vulgare (wheat) germ extract and hordeum vulgare (barley) extract. Boo hoo. I have a gluten allergy, and having it in my lipsticks is a bad idea because I lick my lips and will end up ingesting it. So I will wear my two Toms a couple more times and then let them go.

As for the rest of the ingredients, I don’t think I have ever seen a lipstick box that had 2-sided ingreds, either!

Zuzu’s Petals: I just had a thought: this might not be suitable for gluten-intolerant ladies (well duh!). Thanks very much for the heads up, I’ll update the post with this information πŸ™‚

Sad but true. I had recently reviewed Smoke Red, and someone who knows I have gluten issues pointed it out to me. Nearly broke my heart because it’s the prettiest color I have bought in months.
