Hitting The Smooth-Skin Ball Out of the Park With Dr Lewinn’s Reversaderm

It’s incredibly rare that I come across a skincare range that impresses me almost instantly. Most skincare products, especially serums, take at least a month to fully see its results.

I was very excited to try out Dr Lewinn’s Reversaderm range. I love their Super Hydrator serum and couldn’t wait to test the Reversaderm serum. I was lucky to be able to test three products from the range, and that’s the Micro-Cellular Age Correcting Peel, the Tri-Collagen Accelerating Serum and the Antioxidant Regenerative Cream.

Dr Lewinn's Reversaderm

Before I get to the reviews of each item, I thought I’d briefly describe what this range does. It’s very light chemical peels in a bottle (or in this case, 2 bottles and a jar). It’s essentially a resurfacing treatment range that promises to diminish the appearance of imperfections including sun spots, fine lines and acne scars for brighter, smoother and more youthful-looking skin. In short, it’s a treatment range of chemical exfoliation on the skin. Chemical peels at salons begin from 10% strength all the way up to 70% (I saw this online once. 70%! That will sting like a mother. Time for a new face perhaps? :P) and they’re often pretty expensive treatments.

The Reversaderm range has a much lighter intensity. Having said that, I don’t recommend this for those with very sensitive skin (or even just sensitive skin) because it might be too strong for the skin. If you’re not sure, I highly recommend you check with your dermatologist if your skin is suitable for this type of at-home skin resurfacing treatments.

Right, with that out of the way, it’s on to the reviews!

Dr Lewinn's Reversaderm Micro-Cellular Age Correcting Peel

Reversaderm Micro-Cellular Age Correcting Peel (RRP $49.95 for 50ml)

  • Contains 15% GLM Acid Complex, which is a combination of glycolic, lactic and mandelic acids that encourage deep, micro-cellular exfoliation. As it contains glycolic acid that makes skin more sensitive to UV rays (photosensitive), this is for night use only.
  • It stung the skin whenever I used it. The description of the bottle already warned me that there will be initial stinging so I wasn’t too bothered by it. It didn’t hurt; it was a tingling of the skin I could easily handle. After removing the peel from my skin in the shower, my skin tingled even more. The tingling sensation is akin to the use of liniment oil or “minyak angin“.
  • Broke my skin out the first few times. It wasn’t a surge of pimples, just a tiny spot each time I used it.
  • Despite the minor breakouts, it was still worth sticking to because each time I washed the peel off, my skin felt as smooth as a baby’s bottom. Stinging and small spots be damned!

Dr Lewinn's Reversaderm Tri-Collagen Accelerating Serum

Reversaderm Tri-Collagen Accelerating Serum ($69.95 for 30ml)

  • Contains Vitamin C (I’ll check the percentage of Vitamin C in this serum and amend this post accordingly), Oligopeptide-24, Resveratrol and French Saffron (Red Gold)
  • It’s a light, milky lotion that absorbs very quickly to the skin.
  • The description on the bottle tells me to use a generous amount of serum on the skin per application. I’m not about to squirt heaps of lotion on me, so I just used one dropper-full of serum on my neck and another dropper-full in my face.
  • The skin almost instantly feels smoother.

Dr Lewinn's Reversaderm Antioxidant Regenerative Cream

Reversaderm Antioxidant Regenerative Cream ($69.95 for 50ml)

  • What interesting packaging this moisturiser is in. I’ve never seen this sort of jar before. You press the white disc down and one “serve” of cream (been watching too much My Kitchen Rules, apologies!) is pumped out. It controls the amount of moisturiser you need for your face and neck. I find that one pump is sufficient.
  • It has a mousse-like cream that spreads like butter on skin. It’s lightweight and non-greasy.
  • Absorbs quickly, leaves the skin well moisturised. I use this in the evening along with the first two products.

When used separately, I’d say only the peel and serum show almost immediate results. But when you use all three together, bam! Instant smooth skin. It sounds as though I’m exaggerating (heck, if I’ve not tried this and read this review, I’d say I was blowing smoke out of my own ass), but it’s true. The next morning I used this for the very first time, my skin felt smoother and brighter than it did in years.

*cue Hallelujah chorus*

I didn’t tout it to hormones (I was between periods) nor did I use any new skincare at that time. From that day on, my skin looks and feels awesome possum. As I’m only using the peel once a week now, it’s no longer that strong on my skin to cause breakouts anymore.

In short, I love this range. LOVE it. I’ve been using the serum and moisturiser for 2 months now and I’m only half-way through. This will easily last me at least another 2 months.

Dr Lewinn's Reversaderm

If you don’t have sensitive skin and would like to try out a good glycolic peel for your skin for oh-so-smooth skin, I cannot recommend this range enough. There are 2 more products in the range that I haven’t tried (the Glycolic Clarifying Cleanser with 15% Glycolic Acid and the Enzymatic Detoxifying Mask) but I’m going to get that from Priceline very soon to see how they complement the rest of the products in the range. Fingers crossed there’ll be good discounts on Dr Lewinn’s! ๐Ÿ˜›

Dr Lewinn’s Reversaderm is available at Priceline, MYER stores and leading pharmacies nationwide.

What I like about it:ย Gives me instant results of brighter and much smoother skin.

What I do not like about it: The peel stung my skin and broke me out. However, these were side effects I expected so it didn’t bother me much.

A very interesting line. I’ve tried 10% peel before, and they were fine on my face. Then I tried 30% recently, and it was definitely uncomfortable. But I’m kind of curious of how 70% feels like. lol probably will burn my face off.

Wow what’s a 30% peel like? I once tried 20% and while it didn’t burn, it did sting. What are the results on your skin?
Err 70%? You might literally get a new face! ๐Ÿ˜›

30% didn’t burn either but it was VERY uncomfortable. I’ve tried it once, so I can’t really say that there’s any dramatic changes on my skin, but my face was quite nice afterward. I really can’t even imagine what 70% is like. I recently talked with my mom about chemical peel. Although she’s not a dermatologist, she is a medical doctor. She gave me a long lecture on how I shouldn’t continue this for my skin, and even if I have to use peel, I need to maintain a very low percentage does.

Oooh good advice from your mum. At the moment, I’m happy with my 15-20%, don’t think I’ll go any higher than that ๐Ÿ™‚

Haih. When you wrote this post that you don’t recommend this to those with sensitive skin, I felt that you were writing this with me in mind (ahem). I shall admire longingly from afar ๐Ÿ™

Love the container of the regenerating cream!!! Especially the ones I can deconstruct and assemble them back and reuse. I’m sucker for containers and jars as I would buy something just for the container. If I live in Australia, I won’t mind getting the empty container from you after you’ve finished the cream, if you are not keeping the container for yourself that’s it. Haha.

    1. Bugs

Oh my… My comment sounds cheap. I meant if this product is available here, I would buy it for the container. I should really attend class on speaking. ==”’

Hahahaha no no don’t worry about it. I know what you mean and it doesn’t sound cheap ๐Ÿ™‚ x

    2. Tine

Hahaha interesting packaging, isn’t it? Nah, I don’t think I’m keeping the container when it’s finished. You can have it if you like ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’d have to agree and say I also love this range. Almost instant results. I have been using it for just two weeks, and now taking a two week break. I didn’t suffer any ill effects at all, except a bit of stinging. Love the range so much have started purchasing other Dr Lewinns products and have not been disappointed at all so far. Well worth a try. What suits one person won’t another, the combination of products may need tweaking but I think it’s a great product.

    1. Tine

I’m so so glad you love this range too! The stinging is to be expected given that it is glycolic acid. It kinda goes away after a while ๐Ÿ˜› I haven’t been disappointed by the Dr Lewinns products I’ve tried yet. Fingers crossed they keep coming up with great products. ๐Ÿ™‚
