Uriage Keratosane 30 Gel Creme, You Feet Saver, You!

Feet In Sand

Oh this is embarrassing. In order for me to review this product, I have to tell you a secret. Something I don’t mention often on the blog just so I can hopefully sweep the problem under the carpet. But I guess I can’t keep the cat in the bag for long because even though the season for sandals and slingbacks is almost over, you might still be able to catch me in one.

You see, folks, I have just about the driest and most calloused heels in the world.

It’s something I’m very ashamed of. I’m embarrassed to go on escalators because I fear people would look at my cracked heels. I’m so embarrassed about it up to the point where I actually file my heels first before going for pedicures (you know how they say you don’t clean before the cleaners come? Yeah, I try to “fix” my heels first before pedicures just so the manicurist don’t see how bad my heels are). The ONE time I didn’t sort my heels out first prior to a pedicure, the nail tech told me “Err miss, you’ll need two sessions to 100% smoothen your heels out. It’s too hard; I can’t fix it in one.” This was after the poor girl filed her brains out on my feet.

I inherited this problem from my dad. I grew up seeing his grotty heels and mum was always complaining how scratchy and disgusting they were :P. I laughed along, not thinking that in just a few years, I too would suffer this problem. If you think it’s usually a men’s problem, I implore you to take a look at my brother’s heels. Look at my husband’s heels. Both of them have baby smooth heels. They don’t wear home slippers nor are they arsed to put foot cream on yet they don’t have a single callous on their heels. I’m obsessed with wearing home slippers; I apply foot cream religiously yet I only make a dent on my callouses. Sigh.

Uriage Keratosane 30 Gel Creme

I’m always searching for a miracle in foot creams. I don’t need baby smooth heels (I’ve lost all hope the callouses can be eliminated just with foot creams); I just need to soften the area so that I don’t scratch my own legs (and the husband’s) with my feet. I’ve tried almost all foot creams by Scholl. I’ve tried the ones by mainstream brands. They’re okay but the effect doesn’t last. The softness is usually gone by the next morning. The callouses become so bad that when the skin split, it bleeds and I won’t be able to walk due to the pain.

Uriage Keratosane 30 Gel Creme

So when I was offered the opportunity to try Uriage’s Keratosane 30 Gel Creme that I’ve heard good things about, I was like, GIVE IT TO MEEEEE!! What can I say? Desperate times, people. Desperate feet.

Uriage Keratosane 30 Gel Creme

I’m so used to rich creamy foot creams that when I saw this light gel, my enthusiasm went pffft for a bit. Then I remembered how typical rich creamy creams have disappointed me so I persevered and applied this on my heels. It doesn’t absorb quickly; in fact, you’ll have to really rub it in to the lines and callouses. I use slightly bigger than a pea-sized amount per foot.

As the gel doesn’t absorb quickly, I had to be careful of how I walked around the house. In fact, for the first hour, I had to tiptoe around the house just so I don’t leave greasy marks behind. I also had to elevate my feet when I was sleeping so that I don’t muck the sheets up.

Uriage Keratosane 30 Gel Creme Ingredients

Does that mean this foot gel cream is given a thumbs down? Au contraire! The next day, my feet is finally soft again! I won’t say it’s baby smooth and soft skin (that would be the miracle I was praying for) but it definitely softened the callouses to a high degree thanks to its high concentration of urea (30%). So stoked at the results, I continued to apply them continually during the day. Even though the skin is still very peely, it’s not as dry as it was before and I no longer need to hide my feet from my husband. No more scratching his legs and mine!

This doesn’t just go on the feet. You can use the Keratosane 30 on any parts of your body that are very dry and thickened with callouses. I like to use this on my elbows and knees too. Thank God I don’t have callouses on them but they sure could use some loving with an extra emollient cream.

If you’re looking for a highly effective foot cream for your dry and cracked heels, I highly recommend the Keratosane 30. Even though I didn’t show you photos of my feet (sorry, my heels may have improved but sadly, they’re still too icky to put on the Internet), I can tell you that it has saved my grotty man-feet. I can’t even tell you how pleased I am with this product. I can’t wait for pharmacies to do discounts on Uriage just so I can stockpile these at home. 😀

Uriage Keratosane 30 Gel Creme retails at $19.95 for 30ml and is available at selected pharmacies nationwide (click here for stockists) and Adore Beauty.

What I like about it: Fragrance-free (don’t have to worry about accidentally using it on your face ala Mean Girls :P), highly effective on softening calloused skin especially dry and crack heels

What I do not like about it: Doesn’t absorb quickly so have to be carefuly on not walking with heels touching the floor lest I leave grease marks all over the floor.

Do you also suffer from dry and cracked heels? How do you deal with them? Help meeee!

I totally know what you mean! While I don’t have extremely dry heels, mine are still drier and scratchier than the boy who has baby soft heels… jealous…. and embarrassed! 😛

Phew! So relieved to know I’m not the only one. It’s embarrassing that my feet is rougher and scratchier than my husband’s! 😛

  2. Sounds just like the product I need. I have very oily skin on my face but the rest of my body is so dry. I’m currently using the Bath and Body Works Shea butter foot cream. It’s ok. I should look into this afterward.

Yeah do give this one a go. It’s funny how rich the gel can be and it applies very well too 🙂

Thanks for the recommendation and sorry to hear about your calloused heels. I do not have the same problem as you but I do have dry feet. I discovered a food scrub from Yves Rocher that really helps to give baby soft feet eventhough I do not follow up with a feet cream sometimes.

I also got a tip from the internet which involves applying foot cream to your feet before you sleep at night and then wearing socks to allow better absorption of the cream into your feet while sleeping. When you wake up the next morning, you will have nice smooth feet 🙂

I’ve been doing the whole “sleep with socks” thing for ages! 😛 Some creams work, some don’t. Some just made my socks feel icky. I’ve heard of people who wear ziplock bags on their feet, and then socks! Apparently that works better. A bit much, but I’m keen to give it a go. Anything for smooth heels, I tell ya!

I too suffer from the same fate and my boyfriend’s soooooo darn smooth! Mine used to be really bad and it was icky when the marks are very pronounced. I used a variety of creams too and I find that Rosken’s work well for me. I’ve also done the sugar-honey scrub on my heels and in moments of desperation, used Hada Labo’s hyaluronic lotion too. They work, though I’m still a long way from baby smooth skin. 🙂

How annoying is it when men have smoother feet than women?! It’s against the law of nature, I tell ya! Oooh I’m going to try the Hada Labo hyaluronic lotion too, thanks for the tip. It’s supposed to be super hydrating, right? Well, what better way to test that theory than giving it very very dry skin to plump up? 😉

  5. Bugs

Yeah, still looking for that miracle foot cream too. Have tried Rosken, Scholl, Ellgy…. But the fastest way to smoother heels is to file my heels. Unfortunately, I can’t file my feet everyday, or else I’ll have no skin left…

    1. Tine

I file mine once a week. I have to or else the skin’s too thick and calloused for the cream/gel to even absorb properly (most of the time it’ll just be sitting on my skin). Sigh, the woes of having dry and cracked heels 🙁

i definitely know what you are going through, because I have the same problem too! mine always crack and bleed just because it’s too dry!

so what I do now is file my heels almost every other day, because I wear slippers 24/7, put on body butters/ cream/ whatever rich creams I have, wear socks, go to sleep and hope for the best. it’ll never be baby smooth, but at least it’s not THAT rough and i don’t feel those dry rough skin tugging at those pantyhose kind of socks. Though every now and then it still crack and bleeds lah. Sigh.

Yeah me too. My problems exactly. I have to wear home slippers or boots all the time because of my feet. And sometimes, it still cracks and bleeds, which makes it very painful to walk. I’ll sigh with you on this one.

Oh wow… sounds like a great product. I have callouses on top of my toes – where the joints are. I should try this cream on those yucky callouses that won’t go away.

Good idea. I think this will work on your callouses. They’re great on elbows too 😉

Showing the country backwoods girl that I am, I never thought of callouses as a problem. “Ehh? Foot-smoothing stuff? … isn’t that like… skin-bleach? Why would anyone want to do that? How pointless! And damaging…” Before I moved to a city, I was barefoot all the time. Thorns, rocks, whatever, it never bothered me. I was pretty broke as a kid, so having only one or two pairs of shoes that had to be kept nice for an undetermined amount of time was important. Which means never getting them dirty. Which is HARD when you live in the freaking woods! Going barefoot made more sense, and that meant having callouses. Without them, you’d get cut up pretty fast.

I guess it isn’t exactly pretty to see, though. These days, I just wear socks all the time, or tabi if I have sandals. I think the dirt accumulated bothers me more than the dry skin… I might try this on DH, though, since his tend to crack deeply and bleed like yours. And he’s never without shoes! >D

Wow! That’s very interesting indeed; thanks for sharing your story! I find that the easiest way to get rid of dirt that accumulates in the lines of dry feet is to put some body wash on a foot file and file away. Not only do you get smoother skin, the friction and soap also get rid of the dirt. 🙂

Gosh! This would be prefect for mum! I shall try to look for this next time I’m out 🙂

    1. Tine

Cool! I think your mum will like this 🙂
