Picture the scenario.

You’re sleeping soundly and warmly under the covers. The damn alarm bell rings. You hit the Snooze button and go back to sleep. After the 3rd snooze, you finally drag yourself out of bed and into the shower. Your body may be barely awake but you’re definitely not.

Let me guess. I’d say many of you go through this on a daily basis. Amiright?

I know because that’s me. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Ever since Janey the pooch came into our lives, I have to stop hitting the Snooze button so much because if I don’t get up earlier, the poor girl doesn’t get to go out and pee. But that doesn’t mean I’m actually wide awake. In fact, it’s quite the contrary after, erm, stepping on other dogs’ “leftovers” on the grass one too many times.

The best way to get the system going is a brisk shower. Out of the bed and into the shower. Now I’m not recommending that you take an icy cold shower to shock your system awake (that’s just cruel, especially in winter!). What I really like is using body washes with peppermint and menthol in them. They don’t only smell good; they will awaken your sense and leave your body tingling, slowly but surely waking you up.
