Tine’s Guide To Getting Off Your Bum: Getting Into The Habit Of Drinking Green Smoothies

Green Smoothies

© mizina

As I’m writing this blog post, I’m sipping a glass of green smoothie. How apt. Indulging in what some people would call “drinks wankery”. 😛

I’ve always called green smoothies “green juice”. I didn’t know that “green juice” meant cold-pressed juice or just juice that’s extracted from veggies. I’ve always called them green juice. But now I know that what I’ve been drinking daily for the past couple of years are green smoothies. This means that I drink all of the fibrous pulp that are blended in the blender too.

Just a little over two years ago, Tim bought a fancypants blender for green juicing. Prior to that, we were not green juice/smoothies drinkers. We’ve never purchased any from vendors in shops. I didn’t know what got into Tim to buy an expensive blender (while it’s not a Vitamix blender, it’s still an expensive one from Bio Chef that costs well over $300) given that we don’t have the habit of green juicing. But I figured it wouldn’t hurt if he enjoys drinking green smoothies because he’ll get to meet his daily intake of fruits and veggies.

Me, I wasn’t so into the idea because I wasn’t a fan of green smoothies. I once had a badly blended one and I had to eat the very “green” tasting bits of beaten up spinach that was floating in the smoothie. It tasted pretty bloody awful and I told myself I wouldn’t drink another green smoothie ever again. I even had bits of spinach pulp stuck in my teeth! Why the heck do people even enjoy such drinks? *shudder*

A Korean Cheapie But A Goodie Loose Powder That Is Seatree’s UV Cut Powder

Seatree UV Cut Powder SPF28 PA++

I must admit that in my ignorance of Korean beauty brands, I’ve never heard of Seatree. During my last Korean beauty shopping haul, I, erm, only picked this up purely for the packaging. It’s no secret here on the blog that I’m a massive sucker for gorgeous packaging (heck, most of my makeup choices were based solely on how good they looked on the outside 😛 ).

The design of this tin is so pretty; I knew I had to have it. 😉

Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion AKA The Cushion Foundation That Made Me Fall In Love With Cushion Foundations

Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion

Cushion foundations are all the rage now and it’s no wonder why. It’s easy to use, it’s relatively mess-free and it looks very natural on the skin. The Koreans really know what they were doing when they came out with this concept, huh? Heck, even Western brands like L’Oreal Paris, Lancome, Mecca Cosmetica, Bobbi Brown have come up with cushion foundations of their own.

It’s funny how I actually didn’t like cushion foundations before I stumbled upon Sulwhasoo’s Perfecting Cushion. I didn’t like the uber popular IOPE Air cushion foundation (claimed to be the cushion foundation of all cushion foundations, based on the rate and high number of sales). It wasn’t my cup of tea at all. At first, I blamed myself for not applying the product properly; instead of patting the product in, I swiped left, right and centre. But even after I started doing it correctly, I still didn’t like how moist my skin looked. It was just too dewy for my liking. Because of that, I decided that I didn’t like cushion foundations after all.

Right … where’s that humble pie, because this woman’s gotta eat a slice of it. 😛 When I tried this cushion foundation by Sulwhasoo, I fell head over heels in love. It’s been a couple of months since I’ve touched liquid foundations; that’s how much I love this one. When I used what was once a favourite liquid foundation of mine, I was shocked when I found out how dry it made my skin look. I hadn’t experienced that before with that liquid foundation. I guess I really got used to how dewy and naturally radiant my skin look like now with this cushion foundation.

Anyway I digress. Let’s talk about what the Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion is about and why I love it so much.

Goodbye Good Genes, I’ve Found A Fab Substitute in Cosmetic Skin Solutions’ Resurfacing Serum!

Cosmetic Skin Solutions Resurfacing Serum

As many of you will know, one of my Holy Grail of serums is Sunday Riley’s Good Genes. I’ve sung praises of that serum ever since I discovered it a year ago and would highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a very good chemical exfoliating serum. It gave me almost immediate results that I absolutely love, which is smooth skin and an even skin tone.

A year and 2 bottles later, it was time for me to replenish that serum as I’d used up every drop in the bottle. But much to my dismay, when I wanted to buy it at Mecca Cosmetica, the price had increased to AU$158 for 30ml (it was actually AU$163 or AU$165 a month ago when I last checked). When I bought this mid last year, it was just AU$125 (thank goodness I wrote a review about the serum and I noted the price back then). Not that there’s anything “just” about it; it’s definitely not a cheap serum to begin with. The price increase really irked me, especially when I knew I paid less for it just a year ago. Upon principle, I decided that I would not get this even though I really, REALLY liked this serum. 😛

After a lot of whinging to LeGeeque about this, she recommended that I give Cosmetic Skin Solutions’ Resurfacing Serum a go. She’s tried both the Good Genes serum and the Resurfacing Serum and found that they do pretty much the same job. The CSS serum is certainly far cheaper and since I’ve had good experiences with CSS serums so far, I decided to get a bottle to try.
