Week of Makeup Favourites 2014: My Top 10 Blushes

Week of Makeup Favourites 2014: My Top 10 Blushes

Welcome to what I’d call my favourite episode in this mini series of Makeup Favourites Week because today, I’m going to be talking about blushes. Oh yeah. 😀

Long-time readers will know me and my love for blushes. I have way too many in my makeup stash, yet I still yearn for more. It’s my weakness, I tell ya. You can even call it an addiction and one that I’m happy to still indulge myself in ever so often. I only have 2 cheeks (although some will say I technically have 4. Cheeky! 😛 ) and more than enough blushes to colour on many, many more. Tee hee!

A lot of the ones in my list of favourites have been mentioned before and it’s amazing that after a great amount of blushes I’ve tried, I still go back to these because they’re just fabulous blushes.

Let’s get blushin’!

Week of Makeup Favourites 2014: My Top 10 Blushes

Tom Ford Narcissist
Tom Ford does very beautiful blushes and the one I really like is the Narcissist. I love bright blushes and prefer them to sheer ones so this shade is definitely up my alley. As you can see, it’s really bright and can be very in-your-face if you’re not careful. The gorgeous shade of fuchsia is lovely on the cheeks.

Guerlain Blush G Serie Noire
This was a limited edition blush from Guerlain a few years ago and to date, it’s still one of my favourite blushes to use. It’s not super pigmented but still enough to give you a gorgeous flush without piling too much product on. I also have the Blush G Sakura blush in the same range but it’s nowhere near the quality and results of the Serie Noire.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hr Blushes
I can’t believe it took me so long to finally try the very popular Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes out! When I tried them on, it was instant love. They’re the sort of matte blushes I love; yes they go on matte but they’re not chalky. If I could, I’d buy all of them. (review here)

Revlon Photoready Cream Blushes
Best cream blushes in the market, in my opinion. I’ve tried a lot of cream blushes but the ones from Revlon are superb. They’re cream-to-powder blushes, very easy to apply with fingers or a stippling brush (I prefer using my fingers) and look very natural on the cheeks. I’m so happy to finally have 2 of the shades I really wanted and that’s the Coral Reef and Flushed.

The Balm Down Boy
I love Down Boy. I’ve tried pretty much all of the Boy blushes from The Balm and Down Boy is the best. It’s a gorgeous pale pink non-shimmer matte blush. It’s also very travel-friendly as it’s light and so easy to bring around.

NARS Exhibit A
This is my favourite-st blush from NARS. It’s also the first blush I purchased from NARS (I remembered paying $60 for it before the price drop years later. Yikes!) and marks my foray into bright blushes. Don’t let the crazy orange scare you; it looks absolutely lovely when applied on the cheeks. I can’t recommend this shade enough. Sure, the Orgasm is popular but it’s such a safe option. Go wild and try this one on instead. You won’t be disappointed. (review here)

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush
I’ve been using this blush a lot lately and I love how good it looks on the cheeks. I completely get the hype of the Ambient Lighting Powders and Blushes, and I’m glad I’m there for the ride. I haven’t tried the rest out but I’m definitely loving the Luminous Flush. Such a beautiful blush! (review here)

Burberry Light Glow Blush
Burberry does such lovely blushes. The packaging is spot-on luxurious and the blushes are beautiful. I have the one in Rose Blush and it’s a very pretty pink. I can’t believe I don’t have more Burberry blushes in my collection! I know, like I need more blushes, right? OF COURSE I DO.

Stila Custom Colour Self-Adjusting Blushes
When it comes to blsuhes, Stila is pretty well-known for their Convertible Colour cream blushes. For me, I’m not a fan of those (too sticky for my liking) but what I am a fan of is their Custom Colour Self-Adjusting Blushes. I don’t buy their self-adjusting-to-your-skintone claims but they are lovely blushes nevertheless. The powder is very finely-milled and the blushes give a lovely pop of colour on the cheeks. I have the one in Pink and Coral and they definitely make my top 10 list. (review here)

Jill Stuart Mix Blush
When it comes to blushes, it’s very hard to not to like the ones by Jill Stuart. Their Mix Blush compacts aren’t just cheek-worthy, they’re very pretty to display on your vanity area as well. Each blush also comes with a detachable retractable brush which just screams prettiness. I’m not a big fan of their shimmery blushes but the matte ones are fantastic.

I’m sure there’ll more to grace next year’s list of favourites but for now, these are it. To be honest, I have more blushes that I really like which I haven’t mentioned and it was tough to select the ones for this list. I might bring the rest in for next year’s list, how about that? 🙂

What’s your favourite blush? If it’s something I haven’t tried before, you can bet I’m definitely going to check it out!

I really want to try hourglass ambient lighting blush. My favorites wld be Benefit Bella Bamba, gel blush from INuovi (love this. Really gives me glow from within effect) and Ripe Peach blush ombre from MAC (i surprised myself having MAC item in my fave list lol i am not usually that keen on buying stuff from MAC. Their SAs always do a good job on pissing me off)

Okay everyone here knows I’m no big MAC (kekekekek!) lover but I really wanted that ombre Ripe Peach blush. I couldn’t get it at all when it was launched and it was always sold out. Bugger.
Yeah I know what you mean. Maybe all these years of terrible service I’ve received have made me really biased towards them but it’s now very hard for me to not expect to get pissed off when I walk to any MAC counters. Sigh.

I love your picks though I may not agree with every single one of them (it’s hard to agree with every single one). I think we definitely agree on the brands, but the exact shade is very personal. =D

I have learnt that Jill Stuart has matte blushes!!! I have always been under the impression that shimmer is all they do. Looks like I need to make a trip to town this week.

      Haha of course!
I used to think that Jill Stuart only did shimmery blushes from seeing their super shimmery eyeshadows but whaddyaknow, they do matte blushes too! I have 3 blushes from Jill Stuart and two of them are fully matte ones. They’re absolutely gorgeous.

ah my favourite kind of post! I think I have everything on your list except for Revlon and Guerlain.

loving that you have a good mix of high end and from mid range to low end blushes! I adore JS’s packaging, even if the blush aren’t exactly the best.

recently in love with Giorgio Armani’s new powder blush, great staying power and just goes on so very beautifully! Also Charlotte Tilbury’s beach stick, it’s on the pricier side but I love how it looks on me, so no complains there.

OMG I’ve been lusting after the Charlotte Tilbury blush for ages! I’ve put it in my Christmas wish list and will most likely treat myself to one. I haven’t seen the GA one yet though. Oh dear, you’re dangerous for me!

        LOL! vice versa!
